Job Description

The Caregiver delivers compassionate, professional, non-medical home care to senior clients in their private residences. Caregivers are the face of Amada Senior Care – Brookhaven and the single most important factor in client satisfaction, family trust, and our reputation in the territory.

Personal Care

  • Assist with bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
  • Provide standby assistance and fall prevention support
  • Provide incontinence care and skin integrity monitoring
  • Provide medication reminders (non-administration)

Companionship and Engagement

  • Provide cognitive engagement, conversation, reading, games, and meaningful activity
  • Encourage and support the client’s social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing
  • Maintain a calm, patient, and respectful demeanor at all times

Home and Nutrition Support

  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks tailored to client preferences and dietary needs
  • Light housekeeping, laundry, and changing of linens
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment
  • Grocery shopping and errands as authorized

Safety and Health Monitoring

  • Observe and report changes in the client’s physical condition, behavior, mood, or environment
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies; contact 911 and supervisor as required
  • Document care provided, observations, and incidents in the Company’s care platform every shift
  • Comply with infection control, bloodborne pathogen, and PPE protocols
  • Transportation (When Authorized)
  • Transport clients to medical appointments, errands, and approved activities in accordance with the Caregiver Agreement for Transporting Clients
  • Must have valid license and personal car insurance for transportation
  • Specialty Care (As Trained and Assigned)
  • Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s care
  • Post-acute and post-hospital transitional care
  • Hospice and end-of-life support (in coordination with hospice team)
  • Respite for family caregivers
  • Overnight, live-in, and 24/7 care

Communication

  • Communicate timely with the Owner / Care Coordinator about any concerns, schedule conflicts, or change in client status
  • Coordinate professionally with the client’s family, healthcare providers, and other caregivers
  • Respond to scheduled assignments and time-and-attendance requirements via the Company’s mobile app

Required Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (Form I-9 verification)
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 6+ months of paid caregiving or comparable experience preferred (CNA, HHA, hospice, or family caregiving with references)
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license, reliable insured transportation, and satisfactory motor vehicle record (for caregivers driving clients)
  • Successful completion of national and Georgia state criminal background check
  • Successful completion of drug screening
  • Skills and ADL competency assessment passed
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
  • HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and dementia care training (provided by Company if not held)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Georgia Nurse Aide Registry
  • Certified Home Health Aide (HHA)
  • Bilingual (English plus Spanish or another language)
  • Specialty experience: dementia, Parkinson’s, hospice, post-stroke

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers using appropriate technique and assistive devices
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks (e.g., meal preparation, light housekeeping)
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and respond to the client’s needs
  • Ability to drive in metropolitan Atlanta traffic conditions, day or night

Schedule - Variable schedule including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Overtime at 1.5× regular rate for hours over 40 per workweek.
