Job Description
The Quality Technician/Supervisor supports the plant’s quality management system to ensure compliance with automotive standards, including IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements. This role is responsible for supervising a team of quality inspectors to ensure customers receive 100% defect free parts. The position is also responsible for various testing, calibration, and containment activities to ensure product conformity, reduce defects, and support continuous improvement within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

- Supervise a team of production floor inspectors to ensure correct staffing and inspection prioritization is being maintained.
- Perform Millipore (membrane filtration) testing to verify cleanliness levels of components and processes in accordance with automotive cleanliness standards (e.g., VDA 19 / ISO 16232).
- Manage and maintain the gage calibration system, ensuring all inspection, measurement, and test equipment is calibrated and compliant with IATF 16949 requirements.
- Conduct shipping dock audits to verify proper packaging, labeling, traceability, and documentation meet customer-specific requirements (CSR) and automotive standards.
- Oversee non-conforming material (NCM) management, including identification, segregation, documentation, and disposition using established quality systems.
- Lead defect containment activities (e.g., controlled shipping, sort/rework coordination), ensuring immediate response to quality issues and protection of the customer.
- Perform incoming/receiving inspections on raw materials and components using sampling plans and control plans.
- Process supplier returning using DMR process.
- Develop, update, and maintain process work instructions and visual aids to ensure standardized operations and error-proofing (poka-yoke).
- Support layered process audits (LPA) and internal quality audits to ensure adherence to control plans and standardized work.
- Assist in root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D) and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain traceability and accurate quality records in compliance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve process capability.
- Assist with safe new product launches and building sample parts.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing or a quality role preferred.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans.
- Experience with gage calibration systems and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and basic data analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with non-conformance systems, containment, and corrective actions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quality management systems (QMS software).
Supervisory Responsibility
This position Is responsible for a team of approximately 5-7 floor inspectors and one gauge calibration technician.
Work Environment
- Automotive manufacturing floor and warehouse environment.
- Exposure to high-volume production, machinery, and inspection equipment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- May require standing, lifting, and working in a dynamic production setting.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will need to be able to enter the production floor for assisting team with various material related issues. This will require walking and light lifting.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time on-site position. Standard work hours are Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On some occasional Friday and weekend overtime may be required. Schedule may adjust depending on business requirements and need for overtime.
Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
