Position Title: Associate Data Manager (Onsite)

Contract: United States Air Force Air Mobility Command

Work Location: Onsite Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, IL (St. Louis Metro Area)

Reporting Hours: Monday Friday, 8 am to 5pm

Clearance: Active DoD Secret Security Clearance and ability to get Top Secret.

Travel: Up to 10%

Geocgi is seeking an Associate Data Manager to support an Air Force geospatial program at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois. This role supports the organization, maintenance, quality, security, and accessibility of geospatial and related mission data. Working alongside GIS professionals, system administrators, developers, and analysts, the Associate Data Manager will help maintain reliable data resources and support efficient data workflows across the program. The ideal candidate has a foundation in geospatial data management and database concepts, strong attention to detail, and an interest in expanding their technical expertise within an Air Force enterprise GIS environment. This position is an opportunity with the primary location of performance onsite at Scott Airforce Base in Belleville Illinois.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, maintain, and manage geospatial and related datasets in accordance with Air Force and Department of Defense policies.
  • Support data ingestion, transformation, processing, and distribution for geospatial applications and mission requirements.
  • Perform data quality control activities to maintain the accuracy, integrity, consistency, and security of geospatial information.
  • Assist with metadata management, tagging, documentation, and data organization to support efficient discovery and retrieval.
  • Work with GIS analysts and system administrators to improve data workflows, storage, accessibility, and performance.
  • Apply applicable DoD and Air Force cybersecurity requirements when managing sensitive geospatial data.
  • Troubleshoot data access issues, inconsistencies, and format conversion requirements.
  • Support geospatial database environments, including SQL and PostgreSQL/PostGIS or similar technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers, GIS specialists, analysts, and system administrators to support mission requirements and improve data accessibility.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data management standards, processes, and best practices.

The following are requirements of the Associate Data Manager:

  • U.S. Citizen an active DoD Secret Security Clearance and willingness to be elevated to a Top Secret.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience working with geospatial data formats, including shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, raster datasets, or similar formats.
  • Working knowledge of database management concepts and technologies such as SQL, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, or similar database platforms.
  • Understanding of data quality, organization, security, and accessibility principles.
  • Familiarity with data security protocols and the appropriate handling of sensitive or classified information.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate data and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, classified environment supporting Air Force operations.
  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday at Scott Air Force Base.

The following are preferred of the Associate Data Manager:

  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or other GIS software.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Air Force or Department of Defense programs.
  • Knowledge of DoD or Air Force geospatial data standards, policies, and workflows.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS or other enterprise geospatial databases.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based geospatial data management.
  • Experience using Python or another scripting language to automate data processing or management tasks.

Experience supporting data operations within a mission-critical defense environment.The annual base salary range for this position is anticipated to be $70,000 $100,000 USD. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
