Position Overview:
This position will be based out of our San Luis Obispo, CA location.
We are looking for an Electrical and Inspection Technician to join our team! This role is responsible for scheduling, performing, and recording all required inspections for installed projects, per each jurisdiction, while also handling electrical work and minor field corrections related to solar and Tesla Powerwall installations. These inspections lead to successful sign off and milestone completion, allowing an installation to become operational.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform jurisdictional solar, electrical, or building inspections as scheduled
- Assess job readiness for final inspection and schedule inspections with local building inspector
- Prepare the job site for inspection, including but not limited to ladder set up, opening electrical equipment, and executing outstanding punch list items
- Identify minor installation deficiencies prior to inspection and complete corrective work when possible
- Complete minor field corrections identified before or during inspection, including breaker changes, tightening fittings, installing knockout seals, dead front spacers, and similar items
- Perform general electrical work, including wiring, circuit breakers, grounding, and panel upgrades to accommodate the installation of Powerwall and other energy storage solutions
- Work with customers to ensure seamless system integration of Powerwall with solar panel systems, grid connections, and backup power configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Solar and Tesla Powerwall installations
- Install wireless heat detection and monitoring equipment at designated project locations as required
- Communicate all relevant information concerning next steps and timelines to the customer, jurisdiction, and leadership
- Coordinate jurisdictional inspections with customers and jurisdictions
- Apply technical abilities including, but not limited to, reading blueprints or plans, using tools and equipment, testing wiring or circuitry, and NEC code and basic electrical theory knowledge
- Maintain an organized and efficient calendar, highlighting existing appointments as well as availability for additional inspections
- Create a positive and lasting customer experience, discussing project timelines post inspection signoff, and documenting and communicating concerns internally
- Use software systems to record, maintain, and update project specific milestones and tasks
- Maintain scheduling density for all Inspection Techs
- Handle escalated code issues associated with inspections
- Delegate inspection resources to meet cycle time goals
- Complete other responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma required, college degree preferred
- Electrical experience required
- 3-5 years of relevant PV experience, or general electrical apprenticeship
- ET Card required
- Must be comfortable working inside electrical panels and related equipment, including landing conductors, replacing breakers, making basic wiring corrections, and safely performing minor electrical adjustments as needed
- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stretch, reach overhead, and occasionally take pictures on a roof
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previous field construction experience preferred
- PV design or PV electrical experience preferred
- PV installation experience preferred
- Knowledge of local jurisdictional and/or national code requirements preferred
- Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check; must possess a valid driver's license and have a minimum of 9 years driving experience

Pay for this position is $30 to $44 per hour. This full-time role is eligible to participate in health (one plan is less than $35 per pay check!), dental, and vision insurance. Photon Brothers also offers a 401k with match, as well as company-sponsored life insurance and telehealth. Paid holidays and PTO are also offered with this position.
This role will be posted until October 6, 2026 at a minimum, or until the role is filled.
The pay range for this role is:
30 - 44 USD per hour(San Luis Obispo)
