You’ll work within small, collaborative engineering teams where individual ownership and technical contribution have a direct impact.
The environment uses Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, supported by Agile product and development practices.
You’ll contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from implementing individual stories and tasks to delivering complete features.
The role combines hands-on coding with pair programming, technical collaboration, and cross-functional problem-solving.
You’ll join a fast-paced environment that values curiosity, continuous learning, efficiency, and pragmatic engineering decisions.
This is an opportunity to grow your technical expertise while helping build products that meaningfully improve the insurance experience.

Accountabilities
  • Develop clean, maintainable, efficient, and reliable software using Ruby on Rails and related technologies.
  • Deliver stories, engineering tasks, and complete product features from development through completion.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups and weekly retrospectives.
  • Partner with product, design, and other cross-functional teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise, technical guidance, and ongoing support to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and improvement of back-end systems and product capabilities.
  • Take ownership of assigned work while identifying opportunities to improve engineering processes, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and apply previous experience to solve evolving technical and business challenges.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully shipping small- to medium-sized software projects or product features.
  • Proficiency in Ruby, JavaScript, or TypeScript, with the ability to quickly develop deeper expertise in the broader technology stack.
  • Experience with or strong familiarity with back-end development and software engineering practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a startup or similarly fast-paced environment where teams are self-directed, adaptable, and execution-focused.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills.
  • Fast learner with the curiosity and initiative to continuously develop technical knowledge.
  • Comfortable working within Agile development methodologies and collaborating closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to contribute beyond narrowly defined responsibilities and take a proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Candidates located in the Central or Eastern U.S. time zones are strongly preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • For remote roles, candidates must be able to live and work full-time in an eligible U.S. state.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary of $110,000–$127,000, with actual compensation based on factors such as experience, qualifications, market rates, and internal equity.
  • Company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of the standard compensation package based on role and level.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Employee Assistance Program and voluntary benefits, including accident insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness, legal assistance, and pet insurance.
  • Benefits eligibility beginning on the first day of the month following the employee’s start date.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching contributions of up to 4% of eligible earnings.
  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees, with employees typically taking approximately 15–20 days annually.
  • 8 company-observed holidays.
