Requirements:

As development coordinator for the College of Veterinary Medicine development team, you will deliver administrative and operational support in outreach, engagement, and philanthropy that supports animal-related higher education, healthcare, and research at Iowa State University.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the coordination of donor calls within the unit and with corresponding ISU Foundation teams. This includes researching and outlining call objectives for all participants.
  • Collaborate with development officers on donor engagement strategies and assist with the coordination, implementation and follow-up of those strategies.
  • Research and prepare financial reports for distribution within the college and the foundation.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for the development team, anticipating routine needs and taking initiative on appropriate tasks and follow-up, including coordinating calendars and travel, scheduling appointments, do research for and support team and campus meetings, maintain supplies, and manage office operations.
  • Prepare and submit data query requests, various agreements and forms, and complete data entry in the customer relationship management software (CRM).
  • Assist with the departmental budget process, process payments and reimbursements, and reconciliation.
  • Work closely with college faculty and staff to help develop effective communications and strategic fundraising activities.
  • Assist with donor engagement and outreach activities, including campus visits, college and hospital tours, donor events, stewardship activities and special initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience

  • 5-6 years of work experience related to employment area. Education may be substituted for years of work experience.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be adaptable, flexible, and self-directed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software.
  • Must be able to handle several activities simultaneously with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines and accuracy.
  • Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Location: Ames, IA; potentially hybrid
