Material Handler – Shipping, 1st Shift

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Bonus Eligible
Department: Shipping
Shift: 1st Shift
Reports To: Shipping Supervisor / Lead

Job Purpose

The Material Handler – Shipping supports daily outbound shipping operations by safely moving, picking, packing, staging, and preparing customer orders for shipment. This position requires experience operating material-handling equipment, including a forklift, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced shipping environment.

Unlike a general warehouse position, this role is focused primarily on outbound order fulfillment, packaging, staging, and shipping accuracy to ensure customer orders leave the facility safely, correctly, and on time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Pick, pack, stage, and prepare customer orders for shipment according to Hansgrohe procedures and quality standards.
  • Safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, and stage products throughout the Shipping department.
  • Load outbound shipments and ensure products are properly secured and prepared for transportation.
  • Package products appropriately for shipment, including cartons, pallets, wrapping, labeling, and other required packaging methods.
  • Verify products, quantities, labels, shipping documentation, and order information prior to shipment.
  • Use SAP and RF/RFID scanning devices to process material movements, confirm orders, and maintain accurate inventory and shipping records.
  • Identify and report damaged products, inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, or other issues to management.
  • Assist with receiving and material movement as needed to support overall warehouse operations.
  • Restock Kanban locations and maintain accurate material placement and documentation.
  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory activities as needed.
  • Assist coworkers in locating and retrieving materials and support the training of new employees on established processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Shipping work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions or safety concerns.
  • Maintain good attendance in accordance with the Hansgrohe Attendance Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience in shipping, distribution, warehouse, or material handling.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift; previous forklift experience required.
  • Experience picking, packing, staging, and/or preparing orders for outbound shipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to accurately identify products, quantities, labels, and shipping information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. independently and obtain assistance for heavier items.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform material-handling activities throughout the shift.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of shipping, warehouse, distribution, or material-handling experience.
  • Previous experience using SAP or another warehouse/inventory management system.
  • Experience using RF scanners or RFID devices.
  • Experience with outbound shipping, palletizing, packaging, and loading trucks.
