You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, credit decisions, and sound risk management practices.
The role spans the full lending lifecycle, including underwriting, portfolio management, problem loans, risk ratings, and collateral valuations.
You’ll use analytical insights and industry expertise to identify emerging risks and ensure activities remain aligned with established risk appetite.
Working across credit, underwriting, administration, and second-line stakeholders, you’ll help embed a strong and consistent credit culture.
You’ll also contribute to training, governance forums, regulatory monitoring, reporting, and predictive risk initiatives.
This opportunity is well suited to an experienced commercial credit and risk professional who combines strong judgment, analytical depth, and a proactive approach to complex challenges.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the primary commercial finance regulatory advisor to business units, helping ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitor the organization’s overall credit risk profile and assess alignment with Board-approved risk appetite.
  • Strengthen and promote a consistent credit culture across the organization.
  • Provide credible challenge to lending decisions throughout the credit lifecycle, including underwriting strategies, problem loan administration, risk ratings, nonaccrual status, and collateral valuations.
  • Assess commercial credit programs and practices to identify potential regulatory, financial, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Advise business and senior leadership on complex credit and risk-related decisions.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on commercial credit products and business activities.
  • Develop and deliver training for first-line teams on commercial credit, regulatory requirements, risk management, and related topics.
  • Administer and participate in credit-related committees, working groups, and governance forums.
  • Prepare risk reports, analyze findings, and communicate key insights and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Leverage data analytics and technology to support predictive risk modeling and strengthen risk identification.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, portfolio management, credit administration, and second-line risk stakeholders to align business practices with regulatory expectations.
  • Manage multiple priorities and respond proactively to emerging credit, regulatory, and market risks.
  • Perform additional risk management and commercial credit responsibilities as business needs evolve.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, lending, loan review, risk management, or related roles, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • 12+ years of commercial credit experience, including exposure to alternative energy, working capital, asset-based lending, equipment finance, leasing, and government-guaranteed lending.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial credit program design, regulatory requirements, and enterprise risk management practices.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply regulations, including regulatory risk-rating criteria and established risk management standards.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to assess how regulatory or market changes may affect credit products and programs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across different functions and levels of seniority.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to anticipate regulatory and market developments and translate them into appropriate credit program actions.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly when addressing complex or evolving risk challenges.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a risk-aware approach while supporting business objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide constructive challenge while maintaining productive business relationships.
  • Experience working across first-line and second-line risk functions is valuable.

Benefits:

  • Salary range of $104,000–$174,000 USD, with individual compensation determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
  • Eligibility for an annual performance-based incentive opportunity.
  • Comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.
  • Health insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement benefits.
  • Life insurance.
  • Short- and long-term disability benefits.
  • Paid time off.
  • Remote work environment with flexibility to work across designated locations in the United States.
  • Opportunity to influence commercial credit risk practices and strengthen enterprise-wide risk management.
  • Senior-level exposure to business, credit, risk, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to contribute to regulatory readiness, credit governance, analytics, and predictive risk initiatives.
  • Collaborative environment focused on financial access, innovation, problem-solving, and professional growth.
