About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods to achieve superior quality, lower product cost, and greater efficiency. Applying knowledge of design, materials, fabrication, welding, paint processes, tooling, and assembly standards, this role spans two core functions: driving production excellence on the assembly floor and supporting new product development from prototype through launch. You will work closely with design engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure every product can be built safely, efficiently, and on time.
Responsibilities
- Create and continuously improve standard work practices for equipment assembly
- Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in production
- Provide Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) guidance to new product development project teams
- Support new product introductions from prototype procurement through production launch
- Coordinate with engineering, production, project managers, and supply chain to meet project timelines
- Design equipment, processes, and shop layouts for maximum efficiency and flow
- Recommend and implement cost reductions and functional design improvements
- Partner with quality and shop floor teams on root cause analysis and problem resolution
- Manage production bills of material (BOMs) and support material requirement planning (MRP) systems
- Ensure all changes comply with ergonomic and safety standards
- Train employees as needed across production and assembly operations
- Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent engineering field)
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience or education in electrical or hydraulic system troubleshooting
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic system schematics
- Ability to read and understand design drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong computer skills: Excel, Word, SolidWorks, CAD software, and ERP/MRP systems
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hydraulics, Pneumatics, or Electrical Systems certifications
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining
- Knowledge of welding science and best practices
- Experience with MS Project or similar project planning software
- Experience with ERP material and routing setup
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Split time between office and production floor; substantial time on the factory floor required
- May occasionally exert up to 35 pounds of force with assistance; frequently up to 10 pounds
- May push, pull, lift, carry, grasp, or otherwise move objects as needed
- Safety glasses, ear protection, and safety shoes required within the factory environment
- Must be able to climb onto and under mobile equipment to access mechanical and electrical components
