Job Description

Position Summary:
The Writing Program of Franklin Pierce University is seeking applications from candidates interested in teaching composition courses on a part-time basis for the Fall semester of 2026. The Composition Program serves all incoming students at the University and offers several sections each semester in the Composition sequence, a General and Liberal Education (GLE) requirement for all undergraduate students. Courses have a maximum enrollment of 18 students per section.
Our current teaching need is for First-Year Composition, the first-semester requirement of all incoming students. Students learn to attend to the context and purpose of their writing while selecting credible, relevant sources to develop their own ideas. This course also works on the ability to analyze and comprehend texts. Addresses Learning Outcomes of Critical Reading and Written Communication.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in English, preferably a Composition & Rhetoric concentration or related field.
  • Documented teaching experience and pedagogy at the college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students as well as other composition faculty.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility in scheduling.
