Supervisor Core Laboratory
Kootenai Health is looking for a detail‑driven Supervisor, Core Lab to oversee the quality, performance, and daily operations of our Core Laboratory. This leader will champion rigorous standards, implement best‑practice policies, and support a highly skilled team dedicated to delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results.
As the Supervisor, Core Lab you are responsible for the quality and reliability of testing and for implementing policies, procedures and services for the Core Laboratory Department (Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Immunology/Special Chemistry). Simultaneously providing oversight of all caregivers working in the Core Lab to include training, mentoring and performance evaluation.
What you will do!
• Plan and oversee test evaluations and validation activities
• Lead selection of instrumentation and testing methodologies
• Manage quality control programs and testing schedules
• Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, including proficiency testing and competency requirements
• Develop and maintain staffing schedules to ensure adequate departmental coverage and operational efficiency as needed
• Implement and enforces laboratory safety practices
• Monitor and analyze quality indicators
• Identifies and drives process improvement initiatives
• Develop, maintain, and update SOPs and IQCPs
• Communicates with caregivers concerning laboratory services and makes decisions in matters concerning patient safety, employee safety and/or other matters of importance
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related science required
• ASCP certification required (example: ASCP (C) or ASCP (H))
• ASCP certification as a Specialist in Chemistry and/or Hematology preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of Core Laboratory (Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry and Immunology/Special Chemistry) experience required
• Previous leadership experience preferred
