Position Description:

The Quality Control Inspector will play an integral role as a member of the QC team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; inspecting all aspects of production and ensuring that proper methods and materials are used.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme weather/ harsh temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in most areas of the facility, so attention must be given to signage communicating otherwise. Personal Perfective Equipment required for this position is a (company provided) hard hat, safety glasses, reflective vest, and (employee provided) steel-toed work boots.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

• Reporting to: Quality Manager

• Direct Reports: N/A

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDES AND NOT EXCLUSIVE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  1. • Reviewing mill certificates to ensure compliance with the required specifications
  2. • Testing of materials as required to ensure compliance with the required specifications
  3. • Maintaining records of these tests as verification of the quality of the materials use
  4. • Monitoring the tensioning operations
  5. • Taking corrective action when strands are tensioned out of tolerance
  6. • Maintaining records of the operation, noting what corrective action was taken when tensioning results were out of tolerance
  7. • Performing pre-pour and post- pour inspections of all setups
  8. • Making sure problems that are found during the pre/post pour inspection are corrected in a timely manor
  9. • Documenting the pre and post pour inspection for each product
  10. • Monitoring of the concrete placing procedures regularly
  11. • Reviewing the finishing and curing of the concrete
  12. • Ensuring that each piece is properly marked
  13. • Performing a final inspection, prior to shipping
  14. • Reviewing the finish thoroughly to ensure that it matches the pre-bid samples and mock-up panels
  15. • Inspecting visually for damage caused by improper handling and storage
  16. • Running daily gradations

Position Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education - High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  2. Experience in the concrete industry as a Batch Plant Operator (Minimum of 2 years) preferred.
  3. 1-2 years maintenance experience with ready mix operations preferred.
  4. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals preferred.
  5. Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, simple drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, and leadership in a fast-paced setting preferred.
  6. Proficient with PC Skills such as keyboarding and familiarity with Microsoft Windows Office Software.
