Job Summary:
The Lunch/Recess/Classroom Aide supports students and teachers by providing supervision during lunch and recess, assisting with classroom activities, and helping maintain a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered learning environment. This role works collaboratively with school staff to promote student success and support the daily operations of the school.
Job Responsibilities:
Lunch & Recess Supervision
- Supervise students during lunch periods and recess to promote a safe, positive, and orderly environment.
- Monitor student behavior and encourage respectful interactions consistent with school expectations and values.
- Assist students with problem-solving and conflict resolution while fostering positive social development.
- Enforce playground, lunchroom, and school safety rules with consistency and professionalism.
- Observe and report student injuries, behavioral concerns, or safety issues to appropriate school personnel.
- Assist with student transitions between lunch, recess, classrooms, and other scheduled activities.
- Maintain active supervision of assigned areas, ensuring appropriate student-to-adult oversight at all times.
Classroom Support
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation, organization, and daily instructional activities.
- Provide support to individual students or small groups under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Reinforce lessons, directions, and classroom expectations to help students remain engaged and successful.
- Assist with preparing instructional materials, copying, organizing supplies, and classroom projects.
- Support classroom management efforts by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain an orderly learning environment.
- Provide supervision during classroom activities, assemblies, field trips, or other school events as assigned.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Other Details:
- Compensation: $17.13/hour
- Schedule: Part time, approximately 25 hours/week, Monday-Friday. This school year position follows the school calendar for the academic year, including school closures.
- Benefits: Eligible for tuition discount.
- Time Off: Paid personal time off for vacation, illness, appointments, and personal needs. School closures (e.g., Christmas Break, Spring Break) are generally unpaid unless requested by supervisor to complete specific projects/tasks.
- Timeline: Position is anticipated to start late August 2026. Initial review of applicants will begin on 6/3/2026 and continue until the position is filled.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
General
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Model a life of personal commitment to Jesus Christ by exemplifying a lifestyle that honors God and actively participating in a local, Bible-believing church. Must be willing to affirm and abide by the Schools’ Statement of Faith.
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or similar setting.
- Ability to supervise groups of students while maintaining a safe and positive environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Must pass a Washington State Patrol and National background check.
Physical
- Extended standing and walking for multiple hours.
- Ability to move quickly to respond to student needs or emergencies.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch or reach as needed to assist students and retrieve playground equipment.
- Ability to withstand various weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind and rain.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
