This role is an exciting opportunity for a media-savvy publicity professional passionate about comics, graphic novels, manga, and global pop culture storytelling. The Publicist will lead high-impact publicity campaigns across two dynamic imprints known for bold original series, bestselling adaptations, and internationally acclaimed titles. Working at the intersection of traditional publishing and digital fandom culture, the role focuses on building visibility for authors and creators across national and regional media, events, and influencer ecosystems. It requires strong storytelling instincts, deep media relationships, and the ability to translate creative works into compelling press narratives. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Publicist partners closely with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to deliver integrated campaigns that elevate both author brands and imprint identity. This is a highly visible role ideal for someone who thrives in pop culture-driven publicity and enjoys managing multiple creative campaigns at once.
- Lead and execute strategic publicity campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles across both imprints, driving visibility through media relations, digital platforms, influencer outreach, and event activations.
- Serve as the primary publicity contact for authors and creators, ensuring high-touch communication, guidance, and consistent campaign support throughout all phases of release.
- Secure national and regional media coverage across broadcast, print, podcast, online, and genre-specific outlets focused on comics, manga/manhwa, graphic novels, and pop culture.
- Develop compelling press materials, including press releases, media pitches, talking points, and tailored outreach strategies for individual titles and creators.
- Plan and manage author tours, bookstore events, and appearances, including logistics coordination, travel arrangements, and local media engagement.
- Collaborate with marketing, editorial, sales, and external partners to design cohesive, cross-functional campaigns aligned with imprint strategy and author positioning.
- Represent campaigns in internal meetings and contribute to broader publishing discussions and promotional planning.
- Manage publicity budgets, track expenses, and ensure accurate financial reporting and campaign efficiency.
- Monitor campaign performance, media trends, and industry developments to continuously refine publicity strategies.
- 5–7 years of experience in book publicity or a closely related communications field, with strong preference for experience in comics, graphic novels, manga, or manhwa.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape, including pop culture, entertainment, and genre-specific press ecosystems.
- Proven success leading national-scale, media-driven publicity campaigns for authors or creative intellectual property.
- Established network of media contacts across print, digital, broadcast, podcast, and niche entertainment platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft persuasive pitches and press narratives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience coordinating author tours, events, and multi-city promotional schedules.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative environments with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with tools such as Muck Rack, Cision, NetGalley, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Experience engaging with pop culture conventions (e.g., Comic-Con) is highly desirable.
- Annual salary of $66,500 USD, with eligibility for annual profit-sharing or bonus based on company performance.
- Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Flexible spending accounts (HSA/FSA) for healthcare and dependent care needs.
- Retirement savings plan (401(k)) with pre-tax and Roth options.
- Life, AD&D, and disability insurance coverage.
- Paid time off, holidays, and generous leave policies supporting work-life balance.
- Commuter benefits and student loan repayment assistance programs.
- Educational assistance and professional development opportunities.
- Remote work flexibility depending on role requirements.
