Job Description
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), People & Culture serves as a strategic and operational Human Resources professional who partners with leaders, faculty, researchers, managers, and Monellians across the institution to advance People & Culture initiatives, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, workforce planning, talent management, leadership development, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Business Partnership- Serve as a strategic Human Resources partner to assigned departments, laboratories, and operational areas.
- Build effective relationships with leaders, faculty, researchers, and Monellians throughout the institution.
- Provide guidance and consultation regarding workforce issues, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning.
- Assist leaders in identifying practical solutions to workforce and organizational challenges.
- Support institutional initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement, retention, and employee experience.
- Prepare, review, coordinate, and track appointment letters and personnel actions.
- Draft appointment letters for new hires, promotions, transfers, salary adjustments, reclassifications, temporary assignments, renewals, faculty appointments, visiting scientists, visiting students, postdoctoral fellows, trainees, interns, and volunteers.
- Ensure consistency between approved personnel actions, budgets, grant funding, and employment documentation.
- Coordinate with Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, Research Administration, Principal Investigators, and leadership to verify appointment details.
- Conduct thorough quality reviews to ensure accuracy of names, titles, compensation, dates, reporting relationships, funding sources, and employment terms.
- Monitor appointment expirations, renewals, and employment status changes.
- Maintain employment documentation and personnel records in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
- Exercise exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and quality assurance in all employment documentation.
- Coordinate employee separations including resignations, retirements, end-of-appointment actions, and involuntary separations.
- Prepare separation documentation and facilitate offboarding activities.
- Coordinate the collection of institutional property and removal of system access.
- Conduct or coordinate exit interviews and employee feedback processes.
- Maintain compliance with institutional policies and applicable employment regulations.
- Ensure a professional and respectful employee transition experience.
- Serve as a resource regarding employee benefit programs and eligibility requirements.
- Assist with health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, leave administration, and related benefit programs.
- Coordinate new hire benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment activities.
- Partner with benefit providers, brokers, and vendors.
- Support employee benefit communications and education efforts.
- Assist with benefits audits, reporting, and compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and documentation.
- Respond to employee benefit inquiries and assist with issue resolution.
- Assist with learning communications, enrollment, reporting, and participation tracking.
- Support virtual, on-site, instructor-led, and self-directed learning experiences.
- Assist with the project management, implementation, expansion, and optimization of ADP Workforce Now.
- Support Human Resources technology initiatives and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Information Technology, Finance, Learning & Development, and operational leaders regarding system implementation and adoption.
- Support system training, communication, change management, and user adoption initiatives.
- Assist with reporting, analytics, data integrity, and process improvement efforts.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to Human Resources technology.
- Interpret and apply Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support policy development, communication, implementation, and training activities.
- Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and compliance initiatives.
- Maintain confidential Human Resources records and documentation.
- Support day-to-day Human Resources operations and services.
- Assist with Human Resources reporting, metrics, audits, and special projects.
- Participate in process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Support Payroll, Finance, Research Administration, and other institutional departments as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service to leaders, faculty, researchers, and Monellians.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field required, or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience required.
- Experience supporting employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, and organizational development preferred.
- Experience within a scientific, nonprofit, research, healthcare, academic, or higher education environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Human Resources principles, employment laws, and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience utilizing Human Resources Information Systems, including ADP Workforce Now.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
- Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
