Job Description
This position is responsible for a wide variety of support services to production and service departments involving material handling. Safely operate lift truck to accomplish stock handling.
Additional responsibilities include following established policies, procedures, and work instructions. If something is unclear, ask questions. Servicing production department by changing full and empty parts bins and taking to the designated area. Verify routing and/or disposition of material with signature on route tag. Moving bins to/from containment area. Transport signed off material in containment area. Moving or transport items for maintenance, tool room, and stockroom as required. Bringing packages/boxes received to stockroom. Forwarding all packing lists, bills of lading, miscellaneous shipping memos, and any other shipping/receiving paperwork to the appropriate department. Place empty bins, containers, and packages in proper areas. Preparing (band) units for shipment as required. Dumping all trash hoppers and barrels from the plant into the proper bin outside and informing stockroom when bins are full. Removing tops and clean out empty barrels. Taking visual inventory as required. Using time and equipment appropriately to increase efficiency, effectiveness and utilization. Load scrap bins in appreciate area, stack, weigh and clean up any spills. And performing other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Prefer one to two years of experience driving a fork truck preferred
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- The incumbent will be required to pass a written as well as driving forklift certification test.
Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
Support the operational targets in accordance with Linamar LMP Leadership Standards, utilize a QOS compliant management review process to develop, measure, improve, and achieve key measurable performance objectives including, but not limited to, the following:
- PM completion 100% on time
- Housekeeping to exceed plant standards.
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
- Environmental compliance 100%
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent must support the die cast/trim and other services' efforts to keep a continuous flow of high quality castings through the plant and to the customer by accurately providing and reporting the significant aspects of the visual, dimensional, and process information available.
- The incumbent must promote a predictive, not reactive, maintenance philosophy by taking a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and quality.
- This position, as well as others in the facility, must promote plant wide safety and housekeeping, and follow established guidelines for visual management.
