Fort George Community Services, Inc. was established in 1981 to provide comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and family engagement services to low-income children and families in our communities of Washington Heights and the Bronx.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a team-oriented Early Head Start Manager to oversee the daily operations, educational services, and family support systems, with the goal of supporting all children to achieve. This position will ensure strict compliance with federal guidelines, manage center budgets, and supervise staff to deliver high-quality developmentally appropriate care. The Early Head Start Manager must have demonstrated coaching, planning and interpersonal skills as well as understand the importance of family engagement in a child's development. Our ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish with experience in Creative Curriculum, HELP assessment system, and reliability in ITERS-S and/or FCCERS.

What We Require for the Early Head Start Manager Role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience working with diverse families in low income communities.
- Experience executing evidence-based strategies to strengthen outcomes for children and families.
- Demonstrated ability to establish community relationships.
- Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and fingerprint screen.
- Current driver's license, reliable transportation and the ability to travel out of state on occasion.
- Ability to lift a child weighing approximately 40 lbs., up to 20 times per day if needed.
- Ability to comfortably operate technology and computers, including using Microsoft Office and operating video cameras.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure strict adherence to the Head Start Program Performance Standards and state childcare licensing regulations.
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate teachers and assistant staff. Develop, conduct, or arrange training that develops knowledge of infant and toddler development, potential safety issues, and methods for communicating effectively with children, parent, and other staff members. Review and provide feedback to the teachers regarding their written curriculum, daily lesson plans, and individual plans.
- Monitor the implementation of curriculum ensuring that it is developmentally and linguistically appropriate to the age, language, and culture of the children served.
- Integrate Individual Family Education Plans (IFSPs) for children with disabilities, consult with and refer teaching staff to disability specialist on specific implementation strategies for individual children.
- Ensure the completion of developmental and social emotional screenings on each child within 45 days of enrollment.
- Ensure that FCCERS is conducted at least twice per year to inform professional development plans for each provider.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative quality improvement and monitoring systems to assure that program strategies are executed with reliability, fidelity, and quality. Track child outcomes and program quality assessment results on a center-wide basis, analyze data, and make program development recommendations to the Director of Education.
- Conduct case audits, implement monitoring activities, oversee classroom observations, and conduct ongoing announced and unannounced visits to providers' homes.
