As a Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing enterprise infrastructure while ensuring stability, security, and performance. You will provide advanced technical expertise, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to infrastructure strategy and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of mainframe systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, respond to critical alerts, and proactively identify opportunities for optimization.
- Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues involving servers, networks, storage, and operating systems.
- Manage system configurations, upgrades, patches, and technology enhancements while minimizing operational risks.
- Develop implementation plans, testing strategies, validation processes, and deployment schedules for infrastructure changes.
- Support automation initiatives and improve operational efficiency through scripting and workflow optimization.
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements based on technical analysis and business requirements.
- Apply cybersecurity, privacy, and risk management principles to protect enterprise technology assets.
- Provide specialized technical guidance, analysis, and support to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams, technology partners, and business groups to design and implement effective solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process enhancements, quality controls, and operational best practices.
- Manage assigned projects independently while applying strong judgment to resolve complex and non-standard situations.
The ideal candidate is an experienced infrastructure professional with strong expertise in systems administration, troubleshooting, and enterprise technology environments. You bring a combination of technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills to support critical systems.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience combined with post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong experience with mainframe environments, z/OS systems programming, and enterprise infrastructure management.
- Advanced knowledge of system administration, configuration management, scripting, and IT infrastructure practices.
- Experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical problems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, privacy requirements, and infrastructure risk management.
- Experience with operating systems, platforms, virtualization, cloud technologies, and infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC), containerization, version control, and database administration concepts is an asset.
- Understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, and network security.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Strong relationship-building skills, adaptability, and the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while managing complex technical priorities.
