Job Description

The City of Bothell is looking for an experienced professional to join us as the next Communications and Engagement Manager, leading and managing our communications and engagement efforts. In this key position, you will help provide opportunities for the community to follow, influence, and participate in decision-making and share the inspiring and colorful story of Bothell’s identity and unique brand.

What will you do in this position?

  • Collaborate closely with City leadership to support the City Council's current vision and priorities.
  • Implement the recently developed engagement strategy.
  • Lead the City's engagement team to efficiently deliver accurate, relevant, and engaging information to the Bothell community.
  • Supervise and develop staff by assigning tasks, providing training and coaching, and resolving issues, while equipping them with tools and guidelines to ensure effective community participation in city decision-making.
  • Research, develop, and implement new communication methods and tools, while also coordinating with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion staff to improve outreach to those facing language, accessibility, or cultural barriers.

A successful candidate in this position will:

  • Work together with the Bothell Community and Departments to cultivate strong and successful partnerships.
  • Effectively evaluate and prioritize various tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Openly receive new ideas and other perspectives.
  • Ensure clear and efficient communication of information and ideas through diverse communication channels.
