Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday | 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour
Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate of Apis Services, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with intellectual disabilities at our Newton Group Home in Marlboro, NJ.
In this leadership role, you will work closely with Group Home Managers to ensure quality care, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with guardians, healthcare providers, and community partners. Position SummaryThe Lead DSP provides direct support to residents while serving as a mentor and resource to Direct Support Professionals. This position helps oversee daily operations, promotes person-centered services, and ensures residents receive the support needed to achieve their personal goals, maximize independence, and participate fully in their communities.
Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Support- Partner with Group Home Managers to ensure program standards and quality care are maintained.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to DSP staff.
- Promote a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide direct care and supervision to adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Support residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, housekeeping, and meal preparation.
- Assist with health and wellness needs, including personal medical care and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Encourage community participation through recreational activities, shopping, appointments, and social outings.
- Support social, emotional, and communication skill development.
- Assist residents with budgeting and money management skills.
- Foster independence, dignity, self-determination, and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with guardians, medical providers, and community agencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Monitor resident progress and report concerns as appropriate.
- Ensure all records and reports meet agency and regulatory standards.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum 3 years of DSP experience working with behavioral health or intellectually disabled populations
- Ability to successfully complete:
- State and Federal criminal background checks
- Drug screening
- Pre-employment physical and PPD testing
- Ability to complete all required orientation and training programs
- At least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
