Job Description

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Rural Health - Medical Secretary/Scheduling Coordinator to support the admission and treatment of patients in our Rural Health Clinic. In this role, you’ll perform a variety of specialized medical secretarial and scheduling duties that help ensure smooth clinic operations and a positive patient experience. You’ll work closely with patients, providers, and clinic staff while managing multiple priorities with accuracy, initiative, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized medical secretarial and scheduling duties to support patient care

  • Assist with admission-related tasks and clinic workflow coordination

  • Maintain accuracy with AccuReg, ABN forms, and MSP reporting requirements

  • Manage time efficiently while handling scheduled and unscheduled tasks

  • Utilize computer systems and Microsoft Word and Excel to support clinic operations

  • Uphold Service Excellence standards with patients, families, and coworkers

Collaborative Teamwork

This role involves working closely with clinic providers and staff to support patient-centered care and contribute to a positive, efficient, and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Knowledge of office organization and basic clerical skills, preferably obtained in an outpatient medical clinic or office

  • Experience in healthcare as a Medical Assistant preferred

  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision or direction

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in the English language

  • Ability to pass a medical terminology test with a score of 70% or better and a basic spelling test with a score of 80% or better

  • Ability to maintain AccuReg accuracy at a minimum of 80% during the probationary period and 90% accuracy after the probationary period

  • Ability to maintain ABN forms and incomplete MSP report accuracy at 90% or higher monthly, with no more than three missed per month

  • Computer experience (Microsoft Word, Excel) with the ability to type 25 WPM without errors

  • CPR certification required or ability to obtain within two months of hire

  • Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with patients, families, and coworkers
