Job Description

TITLE: Plant Manager
REPORTS TO: VP of Operations
EXEMPTION STATUS: Full-Time, Salary-Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for achieving targeted objectives for safety, quality, schedule and cost using lean manufacturing concepts and leadership principles. Enhance our operational efficiency, streamline workflows and drive positive change across the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate current business systems, identify bottlenecks and assess opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify and deploy a broad range of customer cost-saving initiatives through established processes; achieve budget and operating income goals.
  • Analyze data, metrics and performance indicators to make informed business decisions.
  • Lead process transformation initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Work closely with department heads, project managers and frontline staff to drive process enhancements.
  • Provide direct supervisory control of operations team to ensure service level standards are met.
  • Lead HR development efforts through appropriate training, development and succession planning.
  • Recognize and manage operational risks/security practices; implement best practices and provide a safe work environment; support legal processes and enable legal dispute resolutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (2 years work experience equals 1 year of education; experience used for education equivalency can’t be used for work experience qualification).
  • Master’s in Operations Management, Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
  • 8 years leadership/management experience including 4 years in operations with 2 years production supervision experience.


SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proficient in data analysis, process mapping and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.
  • Creative problem solver with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Availability to work extended hours, including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to apply coaching, team building and leadership skills.
  • Ability to meet production deadlines and to react to changes to meet customer demands.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Plant environment with occasional discomfort due to dust, noise and fumes.
  • Extended work hours frequently required with periodic visits to multiple work sites.
  • Work requires concentration on figures paperwork and data with frequent distracting influences such as people, telephone calls, noise etc.
