Associate / Senior Associate Attorney — Litigation (New York City) in New York, New York at Boyd Richards Parker & Colonnelli PL

Boyd Richards Parker & Colonnelli, P.L. is a civil defense law firm of 70 attorneys with offices in New York City and across Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and West Palm Beach), and more than two decades of service to corporate, insurance, and individual clients. We are expanding our New York City litigation team and have multiple openings: associates with approximately 4–8 years of experience, and senior associates with approximately 8–10 years who can run cases largely independently.

This is an opportunity to handle a sophisticated mix of commercial, real estate, and construction litigation, along with professional liability, employment practices liability (EPL), and director & officer (D&O) liability matters. Our clients range from Fortune 500 companies to closely held businesses and individuals, and we approach every matter with the same standard of preparation, judgment, and care. We are particularly interested in attorneys with experience in complex civil litigation, including commercial, real estate, and landlord-tenant disputes; experience with Article 78 and RPAPL 881 proceedings, and with insurance coverage matters, is a plus.

The attorney manages their own cases from inception through trial, with direct client and carrier contact, while working alongside partners and mentoring junior associates. This hybrid role may be based in New York State or Connecticut — Manhattan residence is not required — provided the attorney can appear in person in New York City and relevant New York courts, including the Supreme Court of the State of New York, as needed.

Compensation: $160,000–$275,000, commensurate with experience, plus medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan; professional development support.

Responsibilities:

Manage caseload from inception through post-trial
Attend court conferences, oral arguments, depositions, mediations, and trials
Prepare pleadings, discovery and discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents
Prepare timely case status reports for clients and carriers
Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals
Prioritize workload based on deadlines and client needs; meet billing requirements (approx. 2,000 billable hours annually)

Qualifications:

Member in good standing of the New York Bar (required, regardless of NY or CT home base); federal District Court admission a plus
Substantive experience in commercial litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation, professional liability, EPL, and/or D&O matters; insurance coverage experience a plus
Trial and deposition experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; independent, detail-oriented, and organized
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; knowledge of Aderant Expert Sierra, iTimekeep, and NetDocs a plus
