Job Description
Boyd Richards Parker & Colonnelli, P.L. is a growing civil litigation firm with offices in New York City and across Florida, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. We handle sophisticated, high-stakes matters for businesses, institutions, insurers, and individuals—and we are looking for lawyers who want more than a job description. At BRPC, you can build a real litigation practice, work directly with experienced trial lawyers, and take on meaningful responsibility from the start. Our New York City office seeks litigation associates and senior associates with approximately 4–10 years of experience.
This is an opportunity to handle commercial, real estate, construction, professional liability, employment practices liability, director and officer liability, landlord-tenant, Article 78, RPAPL 881, and insurance coverage matters for a sophisticated client base. This is not a position where associates stay behind the scenes. You will help drive strategy, manage matters, take depositions, argue motions, work directly with clients and carriers, mentor junior team members as appropriate, and develop the judgment that makes a strong litigator.
The attorney manages their own cases from inception through trial, with direct client and carrier contact, while working alongside partners and mentoring junior associates. This hybrid role may be based in New York State or Connecticut — Manhattan residence is not required — provided the attorney can appear in person in New York City and relevant New York courts, including the Supreme Court of the State of New York, as needed.
Why BRPC:
• Get meaningful litigation experience early, including strategy, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and client contact.
• Work directly with partners who are invested in your development and want you to build confidence as a litigator.
• Handle sophisticated civil litigation matters for businesses, institutions, insurers, and individuals.
• Join a collaborative, fast-moving team where strong work is noticed and initiative is valued.
• Build a long-term career with hybrid flexibility, professional development support, and room to grow.
Compensation:
$160,000–$275,000, commensurate with experience, plus medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan; professional development support.
Responsibilities:
• Manage caseload from inception through post-trial, including strategy, deadlines, and day-to-day docket management.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, discovery responses, motions, case status reports, and other litigation documents.
• Attend court conferences, oral arguments, depositions, mediations, trials, and other case events.
• Communicate directly with clients, carriers, partners, junior associates, paralegals, and other team members.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, as appropriate.
• Prioritize competing deadlines and meet billing expectations of approximately 2,000 hours annually.
Qualifications:
• Active membership in good standing with the New York Bar, regardless of New York or Connecticut home base.
• 4–10 years of litigation experience, with substantive experience in commercial, real estate, construction, professional liability, EPL, D&O, and/or insurance coverage matters.
• Trial and deposition experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills.
• Federal District Court admission and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Aderant Expert Sierra, iTimekeep, and NetDocuments are a plus.
How to apply:
Submit a resume, a writing sample from a matter you handled, and a cover letter describing your relevant litigation experience. All inquiries are handled confidentially.
