Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development & Communications, the Development & Marketing Assistant supports Launch fund development and marketing efforts, including donation processing and receipting, database management and reporting, assisting with event planning, supporting donor stewardship activities, grant writing and tracking, as well as the creation of publications and communications. The Development & Marketing Assistant also provides general administrative support to the Development & Marketing Department.
Essential Job Functions Fundraising
- Process donations, prepare acknowledgement letters, enter donor/donation information into donor database, and reconcile donation records with Finance on a monthly basis
- Ensure the accuracy of information in the donor database (Little Green Light) by updating and cleaning up data in our CRM on an ongoing basis
- Assist with the evaluation of fundraising activities by running regular reports using the donor database
- Assist with the gathering of information and data for grant proposals and outcomes reporting
- Support donor stewardship and cultivation activities, including pulling reports, preparing materials, preparing mailings, and assisting with communications and outreach
- Maintain accurate departmental electronic and paper filing system
- Provide general administrative assistance for the department including helping with meeting planning and coordination, outreach, and other fundraising activities
Events
- Assist with the event logistics, including tracking and processing RSVPs and donations, processing donor acknowledgments, pulling mailing lists, coordinating vendors, gathering and preparing registration materials, and event communications and marketing
- Support post-event reporting
Communications
- Gather content, stories and photographs for publications, newsletters, and other donor communications and assist with writing copy
- Assist with updating copy and publishing regular news posts on the Launch website
- Maintain Constant Contact mailing lists and ensure the accuracy of information
- Assure all photos of Launch students sued have current approved photo releases
- Pull mailing lists as needed
- Respond to inquiries through the info@launchlearning.org email address in coordination with the Director of Development & Communications
Marketing
- Assist with the design, writing and production of marketing materials
- Update flyers and coordinate printing for marketing materials as indicated by inventory levels
- Prepare marketing materials for distribution (mainly electronic distribution)
- Establish and monitor project timelines to meet deadlines for distributing marketing materials and assists with the printing and delivery of collateral materials to sites to support promotions
- Maintain appropriate supply of all marketing materials
- Prepare marketing kit for all marketing events; restocks immediately after each event
- Represent Launch at marketing and outreach events as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in development, communications, media relations, fundraising, event management, or other related activities in the nonprofit sector
- Excellent writing & communication skills, including the ability to write in a variety of styles, is required, including the ability to compose long-form documents without needing significant revisions
- Experience with donor database management desired (prior experience with Little Green Light is a plus)
- Experience with Canva is a plus
- Experience with website content editing and email marketing - especially prior experience with WordPress and Constant Contact (desired)
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook
