Job Description

Planned is the AI Event Intelligence Platform. Enterprises use Planned to source, manage, and pay for their meetings and events, with AI doing the work that used to take entire teams and agencies. We're about 75 people, headquartered in Montreal, going after one of the largest categories in B2B that software never properly captured.

We're on a mission to disrupt a $500+ billion industry. To achieve that, we want to work with brilliant minds and natural leaders who are driven to out-think, out-plan, and outperform the competition. We tackle every business decision with enthusiasm, and we love the work that we do!

As Head of Engineering, you'll lead the team by helping them ship real value to users, faster: building, coaching, and levelling up product-minded engineers who care about user value, not just shipping code. You'll make the team faster over time - using AI and the best tools available to shorten the path from idea to shipped value, and continually raising that bar. You'll work directly with the founders and product leadership on what we build, how we build it, and the technical bets that define the company.

What You'll Do
  • You’ll be primarily a builder. You'll still be in the codebase on the problems that matter most.
  • Own the architecture: the systems, the data model, and the decisions that have to hold up at 10x the scale.
  • Lead AI engineering: multi-agent orchestration, retrieval, evals, and the data and document pipelines that make automation reliable enough to trust.
  • Scale the team: hire, level, and coach engineers, and build the structure that keeps a growing org fast.
  • Set and defend velocity: shipping cadence, code quality, and the operating rhythm that turns roadmap into shipped product.
  • Build for the enterprise: reliability, security, and the compliance posture our buyers' procurement and security teams demand.
  • Partner with Product and Design as one team. You're in discovery and prototyping, not waiting for a finished spec to hand off from.

What We're Looking For
  • Engineering leadership at a high-growth technology company, ideally scaling a team through a phase of rapid growth.
  • Deep technical range: you've architected complex B2B systems and can still go deep in the code.
  • Real experience building AI-native products: LLM orchestration, agents, retrieval, or evals in production, not just prototypes.
  • A builder-leader: you raise velocity and quality at the same time, and you hire people who do the same.
  • Strong product and design partnership: you treat engineering as a way to express strategy, not just execute tickets.
  • AI tools are a natural part of how you and your team build, not an afterthought.
  • High agency, low ego, fast. You create clarity in ambiguity and don't wait to be told what to do next.

What Makes You Stand Out
  • You've built multi-agent systems, workflow automation, or document and data extraction pipelines in production.
  • Experience with payments, marketplaces, or supplier and vendor systems.
  • Experience scaling engineering through the $10M to $100M ARR journey.

About the Team
  • Building the AI-native operating system for corporate event management and procurement.
  • Trusted by companies like OpenAI, Discord, Coinbase, LEGO, DoorDash, and EY, and is replacing the legacy software and agencies that have run corporate events for decades.
  • Scaling aggressively over the next two years.
  • Selling seven- to nine-figure platform deals to some of the most demanding enterprise buyers in the world.
  • Using AI tools as a natural part of how we sell: research, prep, follow-up, enablement.
  • Living three values: Bias to action. Care deeply. In the trenches together.

What We Offer
  • Culture of high performance, strong talent density and in-person collaboration
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Competitive comp packages
  • All the tools and gear you need to be successful (Macbook, screens, mouse, keyboard, Claude, etc.)
  • Health, dental, vision, and psychology insurance
  • Bus pass subsidy or indoor parking
  • Stocked up snacks & lunches in office 2x per week
  • Dog-friendly office
  • Relocation support, if needed
