Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Perform inspection activities on production parts per inspection record sheet requirements.
2. Perform calibration of probe tips per the scheduled frequency or as required.
3. Work with Supervisors, setup personnel, Machine Shop Associates, and/or Quality staff to convey results of CMM inspections, explain any out of tolerance issues, and formulate necessary corrective actions
4. Edit or modify programs as needed per customer revision changes or castings changes
5. Perform backups of CMM programs as required
6. Generate new CMM programs as time permits (i.e., only if all production parts have been inspected) and in close coordination with the CMM Programmer.
7. Work with the CMM Programmer to learn new CMM programs and how to setup and run them efficiently
8. Re-qualify styli in the event of a collision
9. Replenish all supplies for CMM room including alcohol, lint free rags, etc.
10. File the CMM report boxes per the work instruction requirements
11. Perform daily housekeeping activities including, but not limited to, cleaning the CMM machines daily, cleaning the Faro Arm as needed, cleaning both CMM rooms daily, emptying the dehumidifier daily, and emptying the line dryer cups as needed
12. Maintain records as required.
13. Maintain work area in a safe and orderly manner.
14. Adheres to 6s and safety procedures.
15. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS (BACKGROUND/SKILL/TRAINING):
1. High school diploma, GED and/or 2 years of previous experience working in a Machine Shop or as a CMM Technician.
2. Ability to learn about and recognize machining defects and their causes.
3. Ability to learn how to design and write programs.
4. Familiarity with all testing, inspection, and calibration functions.
5. Ability to interact well with all levels of machine shop personnel.
6. Good organizational and planning skills
7. Strong ability to problem solve
8. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills; Able to work independently or as a team.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work is primarily performed in a non-temperature controlled; smoke-free manufacturing environment. Noise level is moderate to loud. The individual is exposed to extremes in temperature on a regular basis. Employee is required to wear designated PPE at all times while in the plant. Work may be performed near equipment with moving parts or require use of some chemicals and resigns.
