Position Summary: The Community Impact Specialist is responsible for advancing Westmark Credit Union's community engagement initiatives through financial education, event support, outreach, and branch services. This position delivers educational programs, assists with community events and sponsorships, supports branch fulfillment, and collaborates with internal teams to ensure successful community impact and education efforts across Westmark's service areas.

Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel for educational and marketing events.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement and Events

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, nonprofit organizations, community partners, and local organizations.
  • Represent Westmark at networking events, volunteer activities, and community functions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Westmark's community involvement and financial education efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support community impact initiatives.
  • Assist with planning, preparing, setting up, and tearing down community events, sponsorships, financial education events, and member appreciation activities.
  • Prepare event materials, promotional items, displays, signage, and supplies with direction from the Sponsorships and Events Specialist.
  • Serve as backup support for sponsorship and donation initiatives, assisting with requests, fulfillment, and event preparation as needed.
  • Represent Westmark professionally at community events and engage with members and attendees.
  • Assist branches with community outreach efforts, grand openings, member appreciation days, volunteer activities, and promotional events.

Financial Education

  • Deliver engaging financial education presentations to middle schools, high schools, colleges, and community organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with educators, administrators, professors, counselors, and other community partners.
  • Coordinate classroom presentations, workshops, and educational opportunities.
  • Represent Westmark at career fairs, financial education events, and community outreach activities.
  • Work with other Community Impact Specialist on Scholarship Program.
  • Track financial education presentations, community outreach activities, volunteer hours, and event participation.
  • Expand financial literacy offerings for adults through workplace presentations, community workshops, and partnerships with local organizations.
  • Create and maintain educational materials, presentations, digital resources, and program content.
  • Coordinate financial education requests with internal staff and community partners.

Inventory and Resource Management

  • Manage and maintain promotional inventory, educational materials, giveaways, and event supplies for all regions.
  • Coordinate tracking, storage, and distribution of marketing and community engagement materials.
  • Ensure branches have appropriate promotional resources to support local events and initiatives.
  • Maintain organized inventory records and recommend replenishment as needed.

Branch Support and Collaboration

  • Serve as a branch ambassador by building relationships with assigned branches and conducting regular monthly visits.
  • Gather branch feedback and communicate needs to the Relationship Development and Marketing teams.
  • Assist branches in preparing for community events and outreach opportunities.
  • Assist branches with planning and executing local events and promotional activities.
  • Provide recommendations and resources that enhance branch visibility and community relationships.
  • Support internal initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and volunteer participation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Willing and able to participate in social media content development.
  • Achieve and maintain the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) and Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI) certifications.
  • Stay current with industry trends, community engagement best practices, and financial education resources.
  • Continuously seek feedback from members, community partners, and employees to improve outreach efforts, educational programming, and event experiences.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Education, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification in financial counseling or education preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in community outreach, event coordination, marketing, financial education, public relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of personal finance concepts and financial products.
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience coordinating events and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and inventory management.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, presentation software, and digital content creation, Canva, inventory and project management software.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel frequently for meetings, events, workshops, and community outreach activities.
  • Ability to transport, set up, and dismantle event displays, promotional materials, and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, operating office equipment, and event setup.
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods during meetings, educational presentations, and community events.
  • Visual and auditory abilities are necessary to effectively communicate with members and community partners.
  • Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 35 lbs. of event supplies, promotional materials, displays, and equipment.
