JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the activities and work efforts of employees in the Laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) Lead is a lead position for laboratory testing services. Individuals provide daily direction to other laboratory staff with regard to laboratory workload, policies, procedures, and recommends adjustments to staffing, policies and procedures.
The MLT Lead serves as a consult for test performance and technical problems. In addition, this individual may also provide leadership in a Technical, Education, Informatics or Quality Assurance capacity. The MLT Lead motivates, coordinates and supports staff to ensure quality results are reported in a timely manner. They assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications and that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning. Incumbents operate under General Supervision of a Laboratory Supervisor and the Laboratory Medical Director. Medical Laboratory Technologist Lead is expected to routinely function as staff. Is actively engaged and models the skills and behaviors of the 9 Studer Principles leading to an outcome of organizational excellence. Supervises activities consistent with department goals. Is an active advocate of Blessing Health System in the community.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Corporate Services. ICARE standards must be demonstrated. Adherence to Code of Conduct and other policies is required. This position is responsible for collecting and processing patient samples and performing clinical laboratory analysis at all complexity levels for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/Experience:
REQUIRED:
- Associate of Science Degree or completion of an accredited MLT program or military laboratory specialty training documented on a DD214.
- 1 year previous hospital experience
License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
- MLT ASCP (or equivalent) certified or eligible to sit for certification examination within 6 months of hire.
- MLT ASCP (or equivalent) certified within 1 year of hire.
