SBA Senior Loan Packaging & Closing Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SBA Senior Loan Packaging & Closing Specialist based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to manage the complete processing lifecycle of SBA and USDA lending transactions, from initial packaging through final closing and onboarding.
You will play a key role in ensuring loan files are accurate, compliant, and efficiently processed while supporting borrowers, relationship teams, attorneys, and external partners.
The position requires strong knowledge of SBA lending regulations, documentation requirements, and closing procedures.
You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver a seamless lending experience while maintaining high standards of regulatory compliance.

Accountabilities:

The SBA Senior Loan Packaging & Closing Specialist will oversee the preparation, processing, documentation, and closing of SBA and USDA loan transactions while ensuring compliance with internal policies, government requirements, and lending standards.

  • Manage the commercial loan pipeline throughout each stage of the origination, packaging, closing, and onboarding process.
  • Collect, review, and organize borrower documentation required for SBA loan processing and compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain SBA borrower checklists, loan forms, authorizations, commitment letters, and supporting documentation.
  • Review approved SBA and USDA credit packages to determine required due diligence, documentation, collateral requirements, and closing conditions.
  • Ensure loan packages are accurately prepared and submitted through SBA processing channels, including delegated and non-delegated procedures.
  • Coordinate with borrowers, relationship managers, attorneys, government entities, brokers, and third-party vendors to maintain smooth transaction progress.
  • Order and review required reports, including appraisals, environmental assessments, title work, insurance documentation, business valuations, and compliance searches.
  • Manage loan documentation quality by reviewing UCC searches, title documents, legal agreements, and final closing materials.
  • Prepare closing documents, verify settlement statements, confirm funding requirements, and coordinate loan disbursements.
  • Perform post-closing reviews to ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and proper loan onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline records and provide regular updates to internal teams and borrowers.
  • Ensure compliance with SBA SOP requirements, USDA policies, regulatory standards, BSA, AML, CIP, OFAC, and fair lending regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while managing sensitive financial information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in team meetings, process improvement initiatives, and special projects as needed.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced lending professional with strong SBA loan processing and closing expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex transactions while maintaining compliance standards.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of loan processing experience, including at least 2 years focused on SBA loan packaging and closing.
  • Strong knowledge of SBA programs, E-Tran, SBA Standard Operating Procedures, and USDA lending requirements.
  • Experience reviewing title work, title insurance, property insurance, liability insurance, and flood insurance documentation.
  • Experience managing borrower relationships and coordinating complex lending processes.
  • Strong understanding of loan documentation, compliance requirements, and regulatory procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and apply lending policies and procedures to ensure operational accuracy.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, and ShareFile.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
