Milemarkers is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations, and compliance documentation. Position Summary
This role is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, and related administrative support functions. You will work closely with the accounting team to manage bookkeeping responsibilities, maintain financial accuracy, and support internal controls and audit-readiness across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Enter and code financial transactions accurately within accounting software
- Review and verify transaction accuracy
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Reconcile bank accounts and company credit card statements
- Prepare and record journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting and statement preparation
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Maintain compliance documentation and coordinate training/compliance tracking and record updates as needed
- Support additional accounting and bookkeeping functions as needed
- Follow internal control procedures and documentation standards
- Maintain audit-ready files and support audit requests as needed
Required
- 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and accounting software platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet management
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in financial records
- Effective time management and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize effectively
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Suite
- Prior experience supporting audit or compliance functions
- Part-time, approximately 25–30 hours per week, flexible weekday hours
- Compensation
$25 - $30 per hour, DOE
