Job Description

We are looking for qualified candidates for our "SHINE Liaison" position to work full-time for our non-profit organization in the Pensacola FL area.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The SHINE Liaison will plan, develop, coordinate, and report on the SHINE, SMP, and MIPPA programs. This position requires varied and complex duties, requiring good decision making and judgement while setting goals, scheduling and coordinating events, as well as coordinating communications between groups and agencies. This position requires an individual who can work independently with minimal supervision and has interpersonal skills to recruit and retain volunteers and community partners. Travel is essential and may require evening and overnight and out of area travel; the employee should have dependable transportation.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
Completion of eight required mentoring sessions with a seasoned volunteer or local liaison/leadership member. Must maintain active SHINE Volunteer Counselor status and complete STARS, SIRS, and eCIRTS trainings.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXCERISED:
  • The employee in this position reports to the Director of Programs and Planning.
  • The employee supervises the SHINE Liaison Assistant and SHINE Volunteers.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist consumers requesting SHINE assistance
  • Triage consumer requests and assign to SHINE volunteers
  • Fax, mail, or email information requested by SHINE volunteers and consumers
  • Interact with area and local volunteer coordinators and SHINE volunteers
  • Maintain SHINE volunteer files and process all SHINE volunteer paperwork
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports
  • Develop the SHINE work plan
  • Interact and request materials from the Department of Elder Affairs
  • Coordinate training for new SHINE volunteers
  • Attend SHINE meetings, training workshops and conference calls, as well as Agency staff meetings and events
  • Set up volunteer recognitions and award ceremonies
  • Set up SHINE health and resource fairs
  • Process travel and reimbursement requests for SHINE volunteers
  • Use clear, concise oral and written language and possess excellent computer skills
  • Assist as needed on special projects
  • Complete and pass required trainings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT OF THE POSITION:
  • Employee must be able to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception as needed to make observations, read and write, make practical mathematical computations, communicate with others, and operate assigned office equipment.
  • Employee must maintain mental capacity which permits him/her to make sound decisions, use good judgement, adjust to changing circumstances and emergencies, demonstrate intellectual capabilities and work effectively with others, specifically senior adults.
  • Employee must maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: sitting or standing for extended periods of time and operating assigned office equipment such as telephone, computer, calculator, copy and/or fax machines.
  • Outreach and community events will require setting up table and/or tent for outdoor events and will require heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Employee must be able to lift or move boxes up to 10 lbs.

EDUCATION & TRAINING GUIDELINES:
  • Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human services related field;
-OR-
  • Have an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human services related field AND a minimum of two years of experience in a related field;
-OR-
  • Have a high school diploma or GED and four years of experience in a related field.

EXPERIENCE:
  • MUST have experience working with computers, especially with Microsoft applications.
  • MUST have at least an intermediate level of proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • MUST have experience with database entry and/or database management.
  • MUST have above average presentation skills.
  • Previous experience with "Volunteer Management" is preferred, but NOT required.
  • Previous (paid or volunteer) experience assisting the senior population is preferred, but NOT required.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
  • Valid Florida driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to pass Level II Background Screening.

Starting SALARY RANGE:
$41,600/yr. – $48,880/yr. ($20/hr. - $22.50/hr.)

This position may be Direct-Hire or Temp-to-Hire. No benefits are offered during the Temp period.
