Join the Mack Industries Maintenance Team in Valley City!

Mack Industries is seeking a skilled and dependable Plant Maintenance Technician to help keep our production equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently. In this hands-on role, you'll perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, complete repairs, fabricate components, and support plant operations across multiple locations as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair structures, equipment, and components used throughout the plant using basic welding and metal fabrication techniques.
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems on production equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery, overhead cranes, conveyors, and other facility equipment.
  • Install, repair, and upgrade plant equipment to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment schematics.
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment, overhead cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other plant machinery.
  • Verify completed repairs by testing equipment and ensuring proper operation before returning it to service.
  • Safely work at heights of 20 feet or more when required.
  • Assist other departments with maintenance projects and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Continuously develop new maintenance and fabrication skills to support plant operations.

Education & Training

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, trade certification, or vocational training in maintenance, welding, fabrication, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining industrial or production equipment preferred.
  • Experience with overhead cranes is a plus.
  • Basic electrical knowledge required; advanced electrical troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Experience with welding and metal fabrication required.
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, and torch cutting.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional overtime or adjusted hours as needed to support plant operations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, as occasional travel between facilities and operation of company vehicles may be required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust, dirt, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and squat throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work safely at heights and around heavy industrial equipment.
