Job Title: Janitor
Department: Operations
Reports To: Janitorial Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Maintains assigned facilities in a clean, safe, and orderly condition by performing custodial, housekeeping, and light maintenance duties. May be required to work at multiple locations during a scheduled shift.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are representative of the position. Other duties may be assigned.
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other assigned areas.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dusts furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Polishes metal surfaces and fixtures.
- Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties waste receptacles and transports trash to designated disposal areas.
- Replenishes restroom and facility supplies.
- Replaces light bulbs as needed.
- Performs minor grounds maintenance, including grass trimming and snow removal when required by the contract.
- Delivers messages, supplies, or materials as needed.
- Transports small equipment and tools between departments or work locations.
- Assists with room setups, including arranging tables and chairs for meetings or events.
- Travels between assigned work locations as needed to complete cleaning responsibilities and provide operational coverage.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must have reliable personal transportation and maintain current automobile insurance.
- This position requires travel between two assigned work locations located approximately two blocks apart.
- Employees must have their own vehicle available during working hours to travel between locations as business needs require.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience- Less than a high school education; or
- Up to one month of related experience or training; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine reports and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions and effectively resolve routine workplace issues.
