Job Description

Job Summary:

The Non-CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting customers’ household goods, commercial goods, equipment, and other materials while providing a high level of customer service throughout the moving and delivery process. This position may serve as the on-site team lead for a crew of up to five employees and is responsible for helping ensure each move is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Hilldrup’s quality standards.

As a customer-facing representative of Hilldrup, the Non-CDL Driver is expected to demonstrate professionalism, dependability, strong communication, and a commitment to delivering a positive customer experience. The position performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, safely operates company vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), assists with loading and unloading, and works alongside the crew to complete assigned moves and deliveries.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate company vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report vehicle maintenance, safety, or operational concerns.Transport customers’ household goods, commercial goods, equipment, and other materials safely and efficiently to assigned locations.Serve as the on-site team lead for assigned moves and deliveries, providing direction and support to crews of up to five employees.Coordinate daily job activities to promote safe, efficient, and timely completion of customer moves and deliveries.Assist with the loading, unloading, packing, unpacking, wrapping, and protection of customers’ belongings as required.Ensure customer property is handled carefully and protected from loss or damage throughout the moving and delivery process.Communicate professionally with customers regarding the move or delivery process, job expectations, and any issues that arise at the job site.Serve as a professional representative of Hilldrup and demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction.Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate equipment and safe lifting techniques when moving materials.Maintain required vehicle, delivery, and job-related documentation accurately and timely.Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned company vehicles and equipment.Work cooperatively with crew members, operations personnel, and other departments to support efficient service delivery.Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, customer concerns, or other significant incidents in accordance with company procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance and report to assigned jobs as scheduled.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Experience/Skills:

Education/Work Experience/Certificates

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated; CDL is not required for this position.Driving record that meets Hilldrup’s established driver eligibility requirements.Ability to successfully complete applicable background screening, drug screening, and driver qualification requirements.Ability to meet applicable medical or physical qualification requirements for the vehicles operated and work performed.Six months or more of professional Box Tuck driving experience preferred.Previous moving and storage, delivery, transportation, logistics, or related experience preferred.Skills

Ability to lift and carry heavy household goods and commercial items, including furniture, boxes, appliances, and equipment, repeatedly throughout the workday.Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach while loading, unloading, and arranging items in vehicles or customer locations.Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including working indoors and outdoors and on various types of surfaces.Ability to safely operate and enter/exit company vehicles, including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and assisting with vehicle loading and unloading.Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including varying weather, temperatures, and environments, while maintaining safe work practices and appropriate customer service.
