General Manager – Nightlife & Club Operations

Viewhouse Downtown

Location: Downtown Denver, Colorado – Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Base Salary: $82,000–$102,000 per year, based on experience
Additional Compensation: Commission + Performance-Based Bonus Program

About Viewhouse Downtown

Viewhouse Downtown is a large-scale restaurant, bar, nightlife, sports, and entertainment venue located in the heart of downtown Denver. The property combines high-volume food and beverage operations with nightlife, live entertainment, major sporting events, private events, and late-night club operations.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager – Nightlife & Club Operations to lead the property with a particular focus on strengthening and growing Viewhouse Downtown's nightlife business.

This is not a traditional restaurant General Manager position.

The ideal candidate has significant experience operating successful nightlife venues, clubs, lounges, or high-volume entertainment-driven properties and brings an established understanding of the Denver nightlife market. This individual must have experience with bottle service, promoters, nightlife programming, VIP operations, guest acquisition, and revenue-driving events.

Just as importantly, this is a hands-on operating role. The General Manager is expected to be physically present and highly visible during the property's busiest periods, including late nights, weekends, major events, and nightlife operations.

Position Overview

The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of Viewhouse Downtown, including nightlife revenue, restaurant and bar operations, guest experience, financial performance, staffing, security coordination, marketing execution, and leadership of the management team.

A major priority of this position is to continue developing Viewhouse Downtown as a premier Denver nightlife and entertainment destination.

The GM will be expected to leverage existing relationships within the nightlife community while developing new partnerships with promoters, DJs, event producers, hospitality professionals, influencers, concierge networks, and other individuals capable of driving qualified traffic and revenue to the property.

This person must understand how to turn nightlife programming into measurable business results—not simply organize events.

Key Responsibilities

Nightlife, Club & Entertainment Operations

  • Lead the strategy and execution of Viewhouse Downtown's nightlife and late-night business.
  • Develop and execute nightlife programming designed to increase attendance, revenue, VIP business, and overall market relevance.
  • Maintain a strong onsite leadership presence during nightlife operations, particularly on high-volume nights.
  • Understand the complete nightlife guest journey, including arrival, door operations, security, VIP entry, table service, bottle presentation, entertainment, service execution, and closing procedures.
  • Evaluate nightlife performance and continually adjust programming, staffing, promotions, pricing, and operating strategies based on results.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the property's position within Denver's competitive nightlife market.
  • Maintain awareness of nightlife trends, major Denver events, concerts, sporting events, conventions, holidays, and other opportunities capable of generating significant business.

Promoter & Industry Relationships

  • Bring and maintain meaningful relationships within the Denver promoter, nightlife, club, entertainment, and hospitality communities.
  • Develop productive relationships with promoters capable of driving qualified guests and revenue.
  • Source, negotiate, coordinate, and evaluate promoter relationships and nightlife partnerships.
  • Establish clear expectations and measurable performance standards for promoters and outside partners.
  • Track the effectiveness and financial return of promoter relationships and nightlife programs.
  • Develop new relationships with DJs, entertainment partners, event producers, nightlife professionals, concierge networks, influencers, and other relevant partners.
  • Maintain a strong presence within the Denver nightlife community and actively represent Viewhouse Downtown in the market.
  • Ensure third-party relationships support Viewhouse's brand, operational expectations, and financial objectives.

Bottle Service & VIP Operations

  • Lead and continuously improve the property's bottle service and VIP program.
  • Establish standards for table reservations, minimum spends, deposits, seating, guest communication, bottle presentations, service sequence, upselling, and VIP hospitality.
  • Train and develop managers and service teams on high-level bottle service execution and sales.
  • Build strategies to increase VIP reservations, table utilization, average spend, and repeat clientele.
  • Develop relationships with high-value and repeat guests while ensuring appropriate professional boundaries and consistent service standards.
  • Monitor reservations and VIP business for high-volume nights and major events.
  • Ensure bottle service is executed efficiently, professionally, safely, and consistently.
  • Work with marketing and nightlife partners to drive advance reservations and VIP sales.

Revenue Generation & Sales

The General Manager will be expected to actively grow the business rather than simply manage existing sales.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop strategies to increase nightlife, bar, bottle service, event, and overall property revenue.
  • Establish and monitor revenue goals for nightlife programming and VIP operations.
  • Identify underperforming nights and develop programming or promotional strategies to improve them.
  • Monitor guest counts, average checks, table sales, bottle sales, labor, promotional costs, and other nightlife KPIs.
  • Evaluate the profitability and effectiveness of individual events and promotions.
  • Partner with marketing to create campaigns that translate into measurable traffic and revenue.
  • Develop repeat business through guest relationships, VIP databases, industry partnerships, and targeted outreach.
  • Maintain accountability for commission-based revenue objectives established by the company.

Property & Restaurant Operations

  • Maintain overall responsibility for day-to-day Viewhouse Downtown operations.
  • Oversee restaurant, bar, nightlife, event, and guest-service operations.
  • Ensure consistent execution of company standards throughout the property.
  • Maintain a highly visible leadership presence rather than managing primarily from an office.
  • Work directly with managers and employees during high-volume periods when necessary.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and management coverage based on projected business.
  • Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, facility appearance, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with culinary leadership to ensure strong alignment between front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
  • Identify operational problems quickly and ensure they are resolved.
  • Ensure the property is properly opened, operated, and closed in accordance with company procedures.

Financial Performance

  • Take ownership of the property's financial and operational performance.
  • Manage revenue, labor, COGS, operating expenses, and profitability against established budgets and targets.
  • Understand and effectively manage the property's P&L.
  • Prepare and evaluate forecasts based on historical performance, reservations, events, weather, sports, concerts, and other relevant factors.
  • Maintain disciplined labor management while ensuring adequate staffing for guest volume and service expectations.
  • Monitor beverage costs, inventory, comps, discounts, voids, promotional spending, and other areas with significant financial impact.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability without sacrificing the guest experience.
  • Maintain accountability for established KPIs and communicate performance and action plans to senior leadership.

Marketing & Programming

  • Partner closely with the marketing team to develop effective nightlife campaigns, promotions, and event strategies.
  • Provide operational and market insight regarding events, promotions, entertainment, and nightlife trends.
  • Ensure marketing efforts are aligned with actual property capacity and operational execution.
  • Develop concepts for recurring nightlife programming and major event nights.
  • Help create compelling reasons for guests to choose Viewhouse Downtown over competing nightlife venues.
  • Ensure promoters, partners, and internal marketing teams are communicating consistent and accurate information.
  • Evaluate promotions based on actual attendance, revenue, guest acquisition, and profitability.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, train, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing management and hourly team.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability for managers and department leaders.
  • Build a culture of urgency, professionalism, hospitality, sales, and operational discipline.
  • Develop managers capable of independently leading high-volume shifts.
  • Ensure nightlife and bottle-service employees receive appropriate service and sales training.
  • Conduct regular management meetings and communicate property priorities clearly.
  • Address performance issues promptly and professionally.
  • Develop internal talent and succession opportunities.
  • Hold the management team accountable for both operational standards and financial results.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Work closely with security leadership to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
  • Ensure proper procedures for ID verification, intoxication management, guest incidents, removals, and other nightlife-related situations.
  • Maintain appropriate coordination between management, security, bartenders, servers, hosts, and door personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with liquor laws, health regulations, safety requirements, company policies, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ensure incidents are properly documented and escalated when necessary.
  • Maintain strong controls around cash handling, alcohol, inventory, comps, VIP service, and nightlife transactions.
