Position Summary
The Department of Political Science is seeking an enthusiastic and creative undergraduate student to serve as a Student Ambassador and help strengthen the departments connections with current students, prospective students, alumni, and the broader university community.
The Student Ambassador will support departmental outreach and communications, help promote academic and professional opportunities available to students, contribute to the departments social media presence, and assist with efforts to engage Political Science alumni.
This position is a great opportunity for a student interested in communications, public engagement, public policy, law, government, higher education, or community outreach to gain hands-on professional experience while helping build a stronger and more connected student community.
The Student Ambassador will work with Political Science faculty and staff to support departmental outreach and engagement activities.
Responsibilities may include:
- Creating engaging content for departmental social media channels.
- Helping maintain a consistent and active social media presence for the department.
- Assisting with outreach to current students.
- Supporting recruitment and outreach efforts for prospective students.
- Serving as a student representative of the department.
- Assisting with alumni engagement efforts.
- Helping develop student- and alumni-focused communications.
- Providing general support for special projects related to student engagement, outreach, and departmental visibility.
- Helping promote opportunities and resources for students.
This position requires in-person work in the Department of Political Science to assist and collaborate with staff, faculty, and students. This includes greeting visitors, light phone work, and other duties as assigned.

Experience with social media management, Canva or other design tools, photography/video, communications, student organizations, event planning, or community outreach is preferred.Interest in public policy, government, politics, law, public service, or related fields is preferred.
