Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Member of Technical Staff based in the United States.
The Member of Technical Staff will design, build, and deploy full-stack software solutions that transform healthcare practice operations through AI-powered automation. You will own features end to end, from identifying real-world problems with clinicians and operational teams to delivering reliable solutions in production. Working across the entire technology stack, you will develop intelligent agents and workflows that streamline insurance verification, patient intake, claims processing, and clinical documentation. You will combine strong software engineering skills with hands-on experience using AI coding agents to accelerate development and improve engineering productivity. This role offers significant autonomy, a flat engineering structure, and the opportunity to shape products used by clinicians, patients, and healthcare operations teams. You will also help ensure that sensitive healthcare information is handled securely while building scalable technology for a growing healthcare platform.
Accountabilities:In this role, you will take ownership of technical projects from problem definition through implementation, deployment, and ongoing optimization, collaborating closely with clinical and operational stakeholders.
- Design and develop AI agents and automated workflows for healthcare operations, including insurance benefits verification, prior authorizations, patient intake, claims processing, and clinical documentation.
- Build and maintain web and mobile features for clinicians, patients, families, and internal operations teams.
- Translate ambiguous business and clinical challenges into clear specifications, technical solutions, and initial product releases.
- Design and implement backend services, data models, APIs, and supporting infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Own services throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, production monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
- Develop evaluations for AI-powered features, monitor model performance, and track operational metrics to ensure reliable workflow outcomes.
- Protect sensitive health information through least-privilege access controls, secure data handling, logging restrictions, and auditable changes.
- Build and maintain engineering tools that support AI-assisted development, including skills, plugins, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and automated code-review bots.
- Use AI coding agents to accelerate implementation, manage parallel development tasks, and review generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Contribute across the full technology platform, working with frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure components in an established codebase.
- Collaborate with distributed teammates through clear technical specifications, pull requests, tickets, and written documentation.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is a product-minded software engineer who combines full-stack expertise with practical AI development experience, strong ownership, and the ability to deliver reliable production systems in a fast-moving environment.
- At least 3 years of experience building and shipping production software.
- Demonstrated ability to own products or features end to end, from an unclear initial problem through implementation and delivery of systems that users rely on.
- Strong full-stack development skills in Python and TypeScript, with experience across frontend applications, backend services, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
- Comfort working within a large, established codebase and navigating existing architectural and technical constraints.
- Hands-on experience developing applications with large language models (LLMs), including tool use, agent orchestration, structured outputs, retrieval, and evaluation frameworks such as LangGraph or comparable agent SDKs.
- Daily experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, including configuring project instructions, skills, MCP servers, hooks, and subagents; coordinating parallel tasks; and carefully reviewing generated code.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to make sound user interface decisions independently using an existing component library.
- High ownership and initiative, with the ability to investigate problems, find relevant context, remove blockers, and ask focused questions when needed.
- Clear written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones in a distributed engineering team.
- A strong commitment to software quality, security, reliability, and responsible handling of sensitive information.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry, including HIPAA requirements, payer and claims workflows, electronic health record (EHR) integrations, or HL7/FHIR standards.
- Experience with Temporal or another durable workflow orchestration engine.
- Experience building mobile applications with React Native.
- Experience running LLM evaluations or safety checks on model outputs in production.
- Experience developing custom agent harnesses, MCP servers, or plugins for AI coding tools.
- Contributions to open-source projects, side projects, or internal tools used by other people.
Candidates who meet most of the requirements and are excited about the role are encouraged to apply, even if they do not satisfy every preferred qualification.
Benefits:
- Remote work: Remote position, with the listed locations including Uruguay, Bangalore, India, and remote India. The role's stated locations do not include the United States, so applicants should confirm geographic eligibility.
- Technical ownership: Opportunity to own features and services across the full software development lifecycle.
- AI innovation: Daily use of modern AI coding agents and opportunities to build AI-powered healthcare workflows.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Direct engagement with clinicians, operational teams, and engineers across the platform.
- Professional growth: Opportunity to work across full-stack engineering, AI agents, cloud infrastructure, and healthcare technology.
- Compensation and additional benefits: Specific salary, healthcare, paid leave, and other benefits are not provided in the job description.
