Job Description

Bring your experience. Find your people. Build what matters.

At Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC), we believe great work happens when talented people have the trust, resources, and support to do their best work.

As an Engineering Project Coordinator, you’ll bring your experience to meaningful projects that shape the communities we serve. You’ll have the opportunity to manage project workflows and financial tracking from pre-project planning through project closeout, collaborate with talented professionals across disciplines, and build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Most importantly, you won’t be expected to do it alone. You’ll be surrounded by a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, shares knowledge, and is invested in your success.

What You’ll Do

As an Engineering Project Coordinator, you’ll serve as a trusted coordination partner, helping guide projects of significant scale and complexity while supporting the people around you.

You’ll:

  • Manage end-to-end project setup, budget tracking, and financial reconciliation in firm software systems.

  • Coordinate pre-project planning by drafting project scopes, task orders, baseline schedules, and fee projections.

  • Lead competitive bidding processes, including bid advertisements, contract specification preparation, bid tabulations, and contract award recommendations.

  • Serve as the central communication point during construction administration between managers, contractors, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.

  • Maintain and track pay applications, change notices, change orders, and subconsultant invoices.

  • Execute complete project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built documentation, regulatory approvals, and financial reconciliations.

  • Support QA/QC processes through structured schedule oversight and accurate project record management.

  • Assist business development initiatives by tracking client pipelines in CRM systems and supporting grant funding application compliance.

  • Provide high-level administrative and schedule coordination support to engineering leadership.

  • Facilitate proactive cross-team communication, anticipating project needs and resolving scheduling conflicts.

We’ll Support Your Growth

We’re looking for an experienced professional who is ready to make an impact in GMC in Greenville, SC.

It’s about sharing what you know, learning from others, and helping the entire team succeed.

In this role, you’ll have opportunities to:

  • Partner with design and project managers to monitor project budgets and key performance milestones.

  • Support the Client Services team in achieving organizational and project delivery goals.

  • Participate in community engagement initiatives and local service activities.

  • Expand your expertise in specialized industry project management systems like Deltek Vantagepoint.

  • Help refine and continuously improve project delivery workflows, standards, and QA/QC processes.

  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to build strong working relationships with regional partners and agencies.

The Kind of Team Member We’re Looking For

You’re an experienced Engineering Project Coordinator who enjoys both the work and the people behind the work.

You bring:

  • A commitment to quality and thoughtful problem-solving.

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to share your experience with others.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • A desire to contribute to something bigger than an individual project.

What You’ll Need
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, accounting, engineering, or architecture-related industries

  • Experience executing and maintaining contract documents preferred, but not required

  • Deltek Vantagepoint knowledge preferred; CRM tracking software

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills

  • Relocation is not available for this opportunity

Where You’ll Work

This is primarily an office-based role, with opportunities to get out into the field and stay connected to the projects and people you’re serving. In our GMC Greenville office, you have access to a collaborative environment supporting active civil engineering, architecture, and construction administration teams.

Travel: Up to 10%, including project site visits, client meetings, professional development, and other project-related activities.

Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, construction environments, pollutants, chemicals, insects, and other site conditions. Appropriate protective clothing and equipment will be provided and required as appropriate.

The role also includes periods of desk and computer work, as well as occasional bending, twisting, crouching, and other physical movements. Employees may occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds.

Why GMC?

At GMC, we believe communities are built by people—not companies. We’re one of the Southeast’s largest privately held architecture and engineering firms, but our size isn’t what defines us. Our people do.

We bring architects, designers, engineers, planners, environmental professionals, surveyors, and disaster recovery experts together to solve complex challenges and create better outcomes for the communities we serve. Our work touches everyday life—from schools, parks, hospitals, and commercial developments to clean water, safe streets, resilient environments, and everything in between.

And while the work matters, how we work matters just as much.

We’re guided by four values:

  • Quality — We care deeply about the work we put into the world.

  • Integrity — We do the right thing for our clients, colleagues, and communities.

  • Creativity — We believe the best solutions come from curiosity, collaboration, and fresh thinking.

  • Care — We invest in our people, our clients, and the places we’re fortunate to serve.

At GMC, your experience has a place, your ideas have a voice, and your leadership can make a difference. Come build something meaningful with us.

GMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including individuals with disabilities and veterans.
