Senior Platform Engineer - Data & Analytics Platforms

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer - Data & Analytics Platforms based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to design, automate, and operate enterprise data and analytics platforms that power secure, reliable, and scalable data products. In this role, you will work across Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI to strengthen the foundations of modern analytics and AI-enabled workloads. You will build reusable engineering patterns and self-service capabilities that improve platform consistency, reduce manual effort, and accelerate adoption across teams. Your work will help optimize performance, manage cloud costs, and embed security, governance, and observability into platform operations. Collaborating with engineering, architecture, security, and business stakeholders, you will translate complex requirements into robust, supportable solutions. This is an opportunity to influence platform standards, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to a broader digital transformation in a collaborative technology environment.

Accountabilities
  • Data and Analytics Platform Engineering: Design, build, configure, and support enterprise platform capabilities across Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, and related services.

  • Snowflake Administration: Engineer and manage Snowflake databases, schemas, roles, grants, warehouses, resource monitors, tasks, streams, secure data sharing, marketplace patterns, and workload management controls.

  • Reusable Platform Capabilities: Develop standardized patterns for platform onboarding, access management, data publishing and consumption, environment configuration, workload isolation, and governed data sharing across business units.

  • Performance and Cost Optimization: Improve Snowflake performance and operational efficiency through query analysis, warehouse sizing, workload monitoring, resource management, usage analysis, and FinOps practices.

  • Automation and Deployment: Build and maintain automation scripts, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, templates, and repeatable deployment processes to reduce manual administration and improve consistency.

  • Azure Platform Administration: Support cloud services and integrations, including identity management, networking, private connectivity, monitoring, security controls, and production configuration.

  • Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Enablement: Administer and support platform capabilities, including capacity and workspace management, connectivity, governance, monitoring, operational readiness, and adoption.

  • Security and Governance: Integrate access controls, auditability, data quality, observability, security, and cost-management practices directly into platform services and engineering standards.

  • Production Operations and Reliability: Maintain platform health through monitoring, alerting, incident response, root cause analysis, runbooks, resilience planning, service ownership, and continuous improvement.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineering, architecture, security, cloud, governance, operations, product, and business teams to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable platform solutions.

  • Platform Strategy and Modernization: Contribute to roadmaps and technical standards by identifying opportunities to modernize services, improve user experience, enable governed self-service, and support advanced analytics and AI use cases.

Requirements
  • Experience in platform engineering, data platform engineering, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a DevOps-focused role.

  • Hands-on experience engineering, administering, or operating Snowflake in an enterprise environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture and capabilities, including roles and grants, databases, schemas, warehouses, resource monitors, tasks, streams, data sharing, marketplace patterns, cloning, security controls, and workload management.

  • Experience implementing Snowflake security and governance practices, including role-based access control, secure sharing, masking or access policies, auditability, and controlled access to sensitive information.

  • Demonstrated ability to optimize Snowflake performance, reliability, and cost through query analysis, warehouse sizing, workload monitoring, and operational tuning.

  • Experience administering or engineering Microsoft Azure services, including identity integration, networking, private connectivity, monitoring, and production support.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or comparable analytics platforms, including administration, governance, capacity or workspace management, and operational support.

  • Practical experience with automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, version control, testing, documentation, and repeatable deployment practices.

  • Experience integrating data platforms with ingestion, transformation, orchestration, catalog, business intelligence, analytics, IT service management, and monitoring tools.

  • Experience supporting production platforms through observability, incident management, root cause analysis, runbooks, resilience practices, and ongoing service improvement.

  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming or scripting language used in platform engineering, such as Python, PowerShell, Java, or Scala.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to assess complex technical challenges and develop scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions and work across engineering, architecture, security, governance, operations, vendor, and business-facing teams.

  • Ability to work in the United States without requiring current or future employment visa sponsorship.
