Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a PRN Medical Doctor (M.D.) for the Plymouth County Correctional Facility
Responsibilities
- Provide timely and appropriate medical care of the patient population in accordance with community and national standards of care.
- Respects the patients’ right to privacy in accordance with confidentiality practices for incarcerated individuals.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all patient information, including medical record information.
- Ensures that minimum documentation standards are met and that the medical record supports the care and continuity of care of the patient.
- Provides on-site emergency treatment and responds appropriately in urgent medical situations.
- Assumes accountability and responsibility for his/her own actions and judgments.
- Reviews x-ray and laboratory findings.
- It will be the duty to prescribe the appropriate type of medicine and treatment.
- Responsible for referring patients for special types of diagnostic treatments or medical procedures and coordinates plans for treatments.
- Provides medical consultation to prevention, treatment, care and diagnosis of health conditions and problems.
- Adheres to, safely enforces and follows security procedures and regulations for security related policies and procedures, key control, sharps inventories and controlled substances.
- Communicates schedule changes with Administrator and assists in arrangement of medical services coverage for planned absences.
- Adheres to all CPS Clinical and Administrative policies.
- It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
- Follow all security rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Schedule:
PRN - 1st or 2nd shift
Requirements:Qualifications and Education:
- Must possess a current Massachusetts license.
- Current Federal Controlled Substance Registration must be in good standing.
- Current Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration must be in good standing.
- Must be Board Certified/eligible or qualified by state laws and regulations to practice medicine.
- Experience in primary care specialty in corrections or managed care delivery preferred.
- Hold current CPR certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
- Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
