We’re pleased to announce an opportunity for the position of Eligibility Specialist within the Housing Department.
Location: Colville, WA
Status: Full-Time
Offered Wage Range: $21.65 - $23.42 per/hr.
Full Wage Range: $21.65 - $57.73 per/hr. (Represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position)
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Section 8 & TBRA Program Manager, the Eligibility Specialist performs a variety of essential day-to-day functions associated with the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and/or TBRA Program; interviews applicants and participants; conducts briefings and orientations; executes housing assistance payment contracts and other related documents; assures accurate and timely housing assistant payments; and maintains a caseload for rental subsidy determinations.

Essential Job Functions:
- Conducts file reviews to verify and re-certify eligibility; collects, documents and verifies information accurately; counsels clients regarding alternatives.
- Remains current on applicable rules and regulations, other agencies, community resources,service organizations, and programs available in the area; makes appropriate referrals.
- Maintains accurate records that provide for the proper evaluation and documentation of assigned services. Compiles program statistics.
- Maintain accurate and organized client files, manage a caseload, and ensure compliance with program regulations
- Interview housing applicants and verify all documentation provided for eligibility criteria.
- Make the final determination as to eligibility for rental assistance programs in accordance with applicable established program regulations and policies. Sends applicant correspondence including briefing information, denial letter(s), expired vouchers, and properly removes applicants from the waiting list in accordance with HUD regulation and policy.

Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree; two years administrative experience; three years of experience in a housing or social service agency; and two years computer data entry experience;
or
Any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES:
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Valid driver’s license in state of residence.
- Auto insurance in the amount required by the State of Washington.
- Acceptable completion of a criminal history background check.
- Section 8 Eligibility Standards Certified (as needed).
- Section 8 Rent Calculation Certified (as needed).
