This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, National Accounts - Pharmaceuticals in United States.

This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape national market access strategy for a growing pharmaceutical portfolio within a highly specialized healthcare environment. The position is focused on driving profitable payer access, optimizing formulary placement, and strengthening relationships across PBMs, government programs, and commercial health plans. Working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, finance, and field access teams, you will help influence commercial performance while improving patient access to innovative therapies. This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic and collaborative leader who thrives in complex market access environments and enjoys building high-performing teams. The role combines executive-level strategy with hands-on account leadership, contract negotiation, and payer engagement. Operating within a remote-first structure, you will have national visibility and meaningful influence on long-term business growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the national payer access and reimbursement strategy across commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, PBM, and federal healthcare channels to ensure optimal formulary positioning and profitable access for the product portfolio.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of National Account Managers, providing leadership, coaching, training support, and strategic direction to strengthen payer engagement and execution.
  • Develop and implement customer-specific contracting and reimbursement strategies aligned with pricing policies, GTN objectives, and long-term commercial goals.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key payer stakeholders, including Pharmacy Directors, Medical Directors, PBMs, GPOs, and government healthcare organizations.
  • Collaborate closely with field sales, market access, marketing, finance, and commercial operations teams to support pull-through initiatives, reimbursement education, and market expansion efforts.
  • Analyze payer trends, contract performance, market dynamics, and healthcare policy developments to identify growth opportunities and improve market positioning.
  • Lead forecasting discussions, financial analyses, contract lifecycle management, and leadership communications related to payer access performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with healthcare regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education in business, healthcare, or related fields is a plus.
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience within managed markets, payer strategy, or PBM environments, including at least 3 years leading national account teams.
  • Strong understanding of US healthcare market dynamics, payer economics, formulary decision-making, reimbursement processes, and specialty pharmacy access models.
  • Proven experience negotiating complex payer contracts and developing strategic market access initiatives within specialty or orphan drug environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate effectively across matrixed commercial and medical organizations.
  • Established relationships with national and regional payer organizations, PBMs, government healthcare channels, and key reimbursement decision-makers.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking capabilities, with experience managing forecasting, contract performance, and business case development.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel nationally approximately 30% of the time.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $220,000 to $250,000 annually
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life and disability coverage
  • 401(k) savings plan
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities
  • Remote work flexibility
  • Collaborative and patient-focused work culture
  • Diverse and inclusive workplace environment.
