Job Summary
As a Multi-Competency Bindery Operator, you will be responsible for the finishing process in the printing production workflow. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that printed materials meet quality standards and are completed according to specifications. This position requires a keen eye for detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to operate and maintain different bindery equipment including cutters, folders, stitchers, gluers etc.
- Review job orders to determine specifications and set up equipment accordingly.
- Monitor the binding process to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to production schedules.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on bindery equipment to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all work is completed within budget and delivery timeframes.
- Inspect finished products for quality control, ensuring they meet production standards.
- Collaborate closely with other production team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations and best practices.
- Keep accurate records of production runs, materials used, and machine performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in printing/bindery processes is a plus.
- 1+ years working experience as a Bindery Operator or in a similar role within a printing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand job specifications and blueprints.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Moderate noise level due to operation of machinery that can be intense or continuous.
- Moderate exposure to dirt and dust; frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Working near continually rotating moving parts and mechanical parts.
