This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional General Manager based in India.
This is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for driving sustainable growth and market share across a defined regional territory. You will lead regional and area sales teams as well as distributor relationships, translating long-term strategy into strong market execution. As the administrative head of the regional office, you will provide transparent leadership and bring teams together across functions. You will work closely with sales, marketing, logistics, operations, and supply chain teams to strengthen go-to-market performance. The role also involves engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders and representing regional interests when required. A key focus will be building a high-performing organization through talent development, strong leadership, and a performance-oriented culture.
- Lead regional sales managers, area sales managers, distributors, and the wider regional organization to deliver sustainable volume growth and market share.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of go-to-market strategies in partnership with sales, marketing, logistics, and sales operations leadership.
- Participate in strategic business and marketing reviews and contribute to annual marketing plan development.
- Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports and wider teams to improve performance and strengthen organizational capabilities.
- Establish appropriate people resources and execute talent management initiatives, including building a strong talent pipeline.
- Direct the implementation of agreed sales plans across channels, ensuring teams deliver against commercial objectives.
- Drive performance through regular monthly and quarterly reviews covering sales, financial, and people-related progress against plan.
- Provide strategic input into the 3–5 year regional development plan, including go-to-market models, capacity planning, and capability management.
- Partner effectively with hub and country operations, global supply chain, and marketing teams.
- Oversee deployment of the agency-handled frontline sales force and work with the central route-to-market team to improve execution and efficiency metrics.
- Maintain compliance with the Code of Conduct, organizational values and behaviors, and HSSE standards.
- Represent regional interests with external stakeholders, including local government bodies and regulators, when required.
- Bachelor’s degree from a competitive program in applied sciences, economics, finance, or a related field; a management degree is desirable.
- 10–14 years of experience in sales and channel management, including experience working with premium brands.
- Experience within a B2B2C sales model is helpful.
- At least 3–5 years of experience leading teams and managing multifaceted commercial organizations.
- Demonstrated experience handling high-stakes interactions with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a proven track record of delivering balanced growth within competitive categories.
- Strong business and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate strategy into measurable performance.
- Expertise in channel management, customer segmentation, account strategy and planning, distributor management, and customer relationship management.
- Understanding of customer profitability, value chains, customer value propositions, contracts, and contract management.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, strategic partnership, coaching, mentoring, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, align stakeholders across functions, and operate effectively in a complex business environment.
- Strong digital fluency and understanding of market, customer, and competitor dynamics.
