Social Media Coordinator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Social Media Coordinator based in South Africa.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how a purpose-driven brand connects with audiences through engaging, culturally relevant social content.
You will support the development and execution of social media strategies across multiple platforms and markets.
The position combines creativity, content production, trend analysis, and campaign coordination.
You will create social-first content that drives awareness, engagement, and meaningful audience interactions.
Working closely with marketing, creative, and business teams, you will help bring ideas from concept to publication.

Accountabilities:

The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for managing daily social media operations, creating engaging content, supporting campaigns, and ensuring consistent brand presence across digital channels. The role requires a balance of creativity, organisation, audience understanding, and performance tracking.

  • Coordinate and maintain social media content calendars across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Write engaging, platform-specific copy that aligns with brand guidelines and audience expectations.
  • Monitor social trends, cultural moments, emerging formats, and trending conversations to create timely and relevant content.
  • Develop creative ideas focused on increasing engagement, organic reach, and audience participation.
  • Produce and edit short-form video content including Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Create static and video assets using tools such as Canva, CapCut, and similar platforms.
  • Provide creative briefs and collaborate with design, marketing, compliance, legal, and regional teams.
  • Manage campaign timelines, approvals, content workflows, and asset organisation to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Support influencer collaborations, partnerships, digital competitions, and community-focused initiatives.
  • Use social media management tools for publishing, scheduling, listening, and reporting.
  • Track key performance metrics such as engagement, reach, follower growth, and video performance to provide actionable insights.
  • Stay updated on platform changes, digital trends, AI-powered content tools, and developments within the fintech and digital services landscape.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a creative and organised social media professional with strong content creation skills, a deep understanding of digital audiences, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification required.
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation.
  • Proven experience managing brand social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn.
  • Strong understanding of African audiences, cultural trends, and digital behaviours across diverse markets.
  • Demonstrated videography and editing experience, with confidence creating content using smartphones, cameras, and editing tools such as CapCut.
  • Strong Canva skills for creating social media graphics and video assets.
  • Experience using social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or Later.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for content ideation, copywriting support, and creative production workflows.
  • Understanding of social media analytics, reporting, and performance measurement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Creative mindset with a natural understanding of internet culture, storytelling, and shareable content.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities, with confidence managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and remain effective in a constantly evolving social media environment.
