Senior Assistant Project Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Assistant Project Manager based in United States.

This role supports the successful delivery of complex design and construction projects by combining technical expertise with strong project coordination skills.
The position plays a key part in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and compliance standards.
You will collaborate with project managers, contractors, consultants, agencies, and internal stakeholders to resolve challenges and maintain progress.
The role involves reviewing technical documents, monitoring construction activities, managing project data, and supporting decision-making processes.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Assistant Project Manager will provide technical and administrative support throughout the lifecycle of design and construction projects, helping ensure successful execution through coordination, analysis, and oversight. The role requires close collaboration with project leadership and external partners to maintain project quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, bid materials, and construction documents while recommending solutions to project challenges.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing bid documentation, preparing bid summaries, and assisting with award recommendations.
  • Monitor construction activities through regular site visits to ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate activities among contractors, trades, testing agencies, design consultants, and commissioning teams.
  • Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and coordination discussions to support alignment across stakeholders.
  • Review and evaluate payment requisitions, change orders, work authorizations, claims, and closeout documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project records and update project management systems and databases with relevant information.
  • Prepare project status reports, analyze schedules and budgets, and support the development of recovery plans when required.
  • Conduct facility inspections, assess existing conditions, and support evaluations related to rehabilitation and construction requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, building codes, regulations, and quality expectations.
  • Support relationships with client agencies and assist in resolving project-related issues.
  • Assist with internal procedures, controls, employee training, and special assignments as needed.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in construction project management, technical documentation, and stakeholder coordination. They should be comfortable working independently, analyzing complex information, and supporting projects in fast-paced environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant project management, construction, engineering, architecture, or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Several years of experience in construction project management, field representation, or related roles.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, inspections, and project stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, building systems, and quality assurance practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using construction project management systems such as Oracle Contract Manager, PMWeb, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools such as P6 and experience with public or private construction projects are highly valued.
  • Ability to travel to project sites, work in construction environments, and manage field-based responsibilities as required.
