Commercial Development Officer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Commercial Development Officer based in Switzerland.

As a Commercial Development Officer, you will play a key role in establishing and expanding a premium travel brand’s presence across new markets. You will lead strategic commercial initiatives, identify growth opportunities, and help build the foundations for long-term success in the UK and Northern European regions. Working closely with international teams, you will shape go-to-market strategies, develop sales channels, and create partnerships that strengthen market positioning. This role combines business development, market analysis, and commercial leadership within a dynamic, international environment. You will have the opportunity to influence growth plans, build new business structures, and contribute to the expansion of a globally recognized travel offering. Accountabilities
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to establish and grow market presence across the UK and Northern Europe.
  • Identify key sales channels, market opportunities, and brand growth drivers, translating insights into actionable commercial plans.
  • Support the creation and implementation of go-to-market strategies, including sales, distribution, and marketing partnership models.
  • Build and strengthen commercial foundations by developing sales networks, partnerships, and distribution structures within the travel industry.
  • Collaborate with international teams across sales, finance, marketing, digital, operations, and revenue management to align market expansion initiatives.
  • Establish direct-to-consumer opportunities through digital platforms and support the optimization of customer touchpoints.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and consumer behavior to provide strategic recommendations and identify new opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate large-scale commercial projects, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with business objectives.
  • Support the creation and development of a local commercial team and operational structure.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, commercial partners, and industry contacts.
Requirements
  • Several years of leadership experience in a commercial role within the travel, tourism, leisure, hospitality, or related industries.
  • Proven experience developing sales structures, distribution channels, partnerships, or expanding products and brands into new markets.
  • Strong track record managing large-scale projects, improving business processes, and implementing operational improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate confidently with senior leaders and external partners.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach and strong focus on execution.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication abilities, with the skill to transform complex topics into clear and compelling messages.
  • Strong understanding of market entry strategies, customer behavior, and commercial dynamics within international markets.
  • Experience working in international, multicultural, or matrix-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and lead new teams or business functions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate market insights into strategic recommendations.
