Job Description

AndHealth is on a mission to radically improve access and outcomes for the most challenging chronic health conditions, with the goal of making world-class specialty care accessible and affordable to all. We partner with health systems, community health centers, and independent practices to remove barriers to care to ensure all people have access to the care they deserve.

We’re looking for a mission-driven Neurologist to join our growing specialty care team, delivering high-quality care to patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and related neuroimmunologic conditions.

You own a panel from the start, and the shape of the work changes as that panel grows. Early on the focus is access, seeing new patients who have often waited months for a neurology appointment. As your patient base builds, more of your time moves to longitudinal management of the patients in your panel. The pace of that shift varies by physician, by market, and by how quickly referrals build.

You practice as part of a care team, with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Clinical Pharmacists alongside you, and the team takes on more of the panel as it matures. Over time you may take on more ownership of protocol design and clinical program development, and building the referring provider relationships that feed your practice. Compensation is structured as a base salary plus a variable component tied to panel performance, including patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Day to day, the role is focused on the clinical work that only a physician can do: complex evaluations, treatment strategy, specialist consultations, and oversight of escalated cases. Our multidisciplinary team handles much of the administrative and coordinative work traditionally placed on specialists. Prior authorizations are managed by our team, not you. Routine follow-up and medication management are supported by APPs and Clinical Pharmacists, and infusion logistics, including site-of-care coordination, are supported by our team. Care coordination across our Community Health Center partners is handled by Patient Navigators and Registered Nurses (RNs).

This position will report to the Chief Medical Officer. In the absence of the Chief Medical Officer, this position will report to the next level manager unless otherwise defined or assigned.

What Makes This Role Different

Most neurology practices are built around throughput. Ours isn’t. Our focus is on getting patients to an effective treatment, including access to specialty medication and non-covered services, as quickly as possible.

Our care model is designed around multidisciplinary specialty care teams that allow physicians to practice at the top of their license. You’ll work alongside Advanced Practice Providers, Clinical Pharmacists, Registered Nurses, Patient Navigators, and Health Coaches who collectively support the patient journey and reduce administrative burden on physicians.

Your caseload is focused on patients with complex multiple sclerosis and related neuroimmunologic disease, diagnostically challenging presentations, and cases where physician-level expertise has significant impact. Your schedule is built around new patient evaluations, specialist consultations, and the ongoing management of your own panel rather than high-volume routine visits and RVU-driven throughput. You may also care for patients experiencing migraine headaches, which is part of our neurology line, though the focus of this role is MS and related conditions.

Our hybrid care model combines virtual care with periodic in-person sessions at Community Health Center partner sites, allowing physicians to build meaningful patient relationships while expanding access to specialty care in underserved communities.

Those partnerships matter. Many of our patients have waited months to see a neurologist. This is an opportunity to deliver specialty care to patients who otherwise may not have access to it.

What you’ll do in the role:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct new patient evaluations and specialist consultations for patients with complex neurologic conditions, with a focus on multiple sclerosis and related neuroimmunologic disorders.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage chronic neurologic conditions across both virtual and in-person care environments to evidence-based standards of care.
  • Prescribe and oversee disease-modifying therapies for MS, including infusion therapies, with attention to treatment selection, safety monitoring, and coordination across infusion sites.
  • Provide physician-level review and oversight of escalated clinical cases from APPs, Clinical Pharmacists, and care team partners.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans integrating medical therapy, lifestyle interventions, and whole-person care approaches.
  • Educate patients on disease processes, treatment pathways, and long-term management strategies.
  • Identify co-occurring or contributing conditions that may impact diagnosis, treatment response, or patient outcomes.
  • Participate in collaborative case reviews and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Ultimately responsible for all patient outcomes driven by your care team.
  • Maintain compliance with all CHC, clinical, and regulatory requirements.

Team-Based Care

  • Collaborate closely with APPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Registered Nurses and Health Coaches to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and support to APPs and Clinical Pharmacists. This includes both real-time clinical feedback on cases as well as opportunities to help lead more formalized educational sessions.
  • Coordinate with APP leadership on establishment, evaluation and advancement of competencies.
  • Contribute feedback on workflows, care protocols, and patient experience initiatives.
  • Support a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, education, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care.

How the Role Evolves

Early on you spend more of your time on new patient evaluations, specialist consultations, and escalated cases, building familiarity with our workflows, care teams, and patient population while the panel builds. As it grows, more of your time goes to longitudinal management of your own patients, oversight of the care team, mentorship of APPs and Clinical Pharmacists, partner engagement, and the panel development work that supports long-term outcomes.

Physicians are expected to participate in growing their panel. AndHealth provides operational, partnership, referral, and care team support, including protected time and infrastructure, and physicians contribute through clinical relationships, collaboration with partners, and engagement with the communities they serve.

As a panel matures, the work tends to include:

  • Greater clinical autonomy and accountability for longitudinal patient outcomes.
  • Leadership within the care team, including mentorship and opportunities for medical education for APPs and Clinical Pharmacists.
  • Clinical program development, including protocol design and quality initiatives.
  • Relationship-building with Community Health Centers, referring providers, and health system partners.
  • Care team support that grows alongside the panel, including Clinical Pharmacists and care coordination.

Education & Licensure Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school required
  • Board Certification in Neurology required
  • Active, unrestricted medical license required; Indiana licensure or willingness to obtain required
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology residency required; fellowship training in multiple sclerosis or neuroimmunology preferred
  • DEA certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Other Skills or Qualifications:

  • Experience with chronic, complex neurology patients, including multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunologic conditions, preferred
  • Experience prescribing and managing disease-modifying therapies for MS, including infusion therapies, preferred
  • Experience training or mentoring APPs preferred
  • Comfort practicing in virtual and in-person care environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly to patients and care teams
  • Comfort working with patients from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of healthcare literacy
  • Proficiency with EHRs and healthcare technology platforms
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-based care model
  • Belief in a whole-person approach to chronic disease management, including lifestyle factors and social drivers of health
  • Willingness to travel periodically to partner sites as needed

Here’s what we’d like to offer you:

  • Equal investment and support for our people and patients.
  • A fun and ambitious growing environment with a culture that takes on important things, takes risks, and learns quickly.
