Job Description

Job Overview

Are you an experienced HR and administration professional who enjoys leading people, improving processes, and keeping an organization running smoothly?

Cerebral Palsy Alberta (CPAA) is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Manager, People, Culture & Administration to join our leadership team.

This is a unique dual leadership role that combines Human Resources and People & Culture with comprehensive organizational administration. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable supporting employees and workplace culture as they are managing facilities, contracts, leases, vendors, and day-to-day administrative operations.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, you will play a key role in supporting our employees, strengthening organizational practices, and ensuring efficient operations that contribute to CPAA's mission.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and offboarding.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture through employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, HR policies, and employment legislation.
  • Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, RRSP contributions, leave management, and HR systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta employment legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Support organizational development, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and manage all organizational administrative functions, ensuring efficient and effective daily operations.
  • Oversee facilities management, including office maintenance, repairs, security, accessibility, and related services.
  • Manage organizational contracts, office leases, renewals, service agreements, procurement, and vendor relationships.
  • Develop and improve administrative processes, systems, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate organizational events, staff activities, and internal initiatives.
  • Supervise and support assigned HR and administrative team members.
  • Collaborate with the President & CEO and leadership team on operational priorities, strategic initiatives, and organizational decision-making.

Please note: This position carries substantial hands-on administrative and operational responsibilities in addition to HR leadership. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys both areas and can confidently balance their competing priorities.

What We're Looking For

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in human resources, payroll, and administration.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta employment standards, payroll requirements, and HR practices.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and policy development.
  • Experience managing office operations, facilities, contracts, leases, and vendor relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • A collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

The Following Would Be an Asset:

  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization.
  • CPHR designation or progress toward certification.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • On-site position primarily based in a professional office environment. Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Regular computer use and prolonged periods of sitting, with intermittent walking and standing.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional additional hours outside the regular work schedule may be required to meet operational needs.
