Job Description
Your role will be to facilitate all phases of intake to include benefits verification, authorization, appeals, and patient financial assistance. The Intake Pharmacy Technician will interact with colleagues, caregivers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to provide exceptional customer service.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Must be experienced with insurance coverage and eligibility requirements necessary for accurate benefit checks and authorizations;
- Able to identify guidelines, coverage rules and obtain prior authorizations/medical necessity certificates when needed;
- Have experience with pharmacy management software;
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete records;
- Communicates and resolves problems with patients/customers, physician offices, and insurance companies;
- Proven track record and ability to work with reporting to follow up on prior authorizations;
- Ability to assess what is needed and work effectively with all members of the team;
- Team player willing to assist with office duties like filing, answering and directing phones calls, and other duties as assigned;
- Ability to work with revenue team to maximize profitability;
- Actively support company mission, policies, and procedures;
- Presents a professional appearance and approach, demonstrates honest and ethical behavior, ensures safeguards to comply with confidentiality and HIPAA regulatory requirements;
- Contributes to the effectiveness of the team by working together and applying best practices of respect, support, honoring diversity, effective communication, and improving the work environment;
- Exhibits flexibility when work assignments need to be adjusted to meet the needs of the team;
- Takes initiative to identify, develop, and adapt new policies and practices to improve quality of work;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Always maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information;
- Observe legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient and proprietary company information;
- Understand and comply with HIPAA;
- For all activities, comply with accreditation, legal, regulatory, government and safety requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree is preferred;
- A current certified pharmacy technician license is not required but preferred;
- Excellent communication skills including reading, writing, and speaking to effectively handle position responsibilities;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite products.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Intake Coordinator/Biologic Coordinator;
- Experience working in a Specialty pharmacy;
- Experience with CPR+/Caretend Pharmacy Management System.
- $24 - $28 an hour
